Currently playing The Increible Hulk - not to bad, lots of smashing to do.

Hellboy Science of Evil - pretty crappy game

Vodstok 07-05-2008 07:58 PM

FEAR: Perseus Mandate. I read a review that said it was mediocre at best. sadly, this is true. so far the scares have been pretty well done, but if FEAR and Extraction Point were Alien and Aliens respectively (and they were, believe me), then Pereus Mandate is Ressurection. as an action game, its pretty good, with some decent horror elements, but as a FEAR game, it is shit.

I just started putting time into Assassin's Creed... And good GOD is it boring... It's a gorgeous game, sure, but I'm finding it incredibly insipid and shallow. I haven't gotten very far into it (I'm off saving 12 villagers from the horrible soldiers!), so I haven't had my first assassination assignment... But... I am seriously BORED.

Anyone else play Assassin's Creed and feel the same way?

Wouldn't say i was bored.

I just found the game repetitive and very little challenging.

But it's breathtakingly beautiful and i hope there will be made a sequal with a much better gameplay and story.

"Topspin 3" ps3

Awsome.

"Metal Gear Solid 4" ps3

Looks awsome as well.

"Alone in the dark" (New) Ps2

VERY disappointed!!!!

The graphic looks freaking old school.

Phalanx 07-06-2008 06:29 PM

Playing through Bioshock while I've borrowed "the competitions" console.
I have to say, it's a nice looking game - rivals most current gen games.
Pretty immersive, with an interesting storyline if one were to follow it.
Reminds me of Deus Ex, in terms of the "you start pretty weak and think ITS TOOO HARD before you upgrade yourself into a kickass machine".
Unique setting, quite atmospheric and scary at times - I can see why this one is being adapted into film.

Other than that, next I will be moving on to a game that I had to import, the USA folks will know this one as "disaster report", to the UK folks its "S.O.S - The Final Escape". This is a game that never got released here, but the UK version will work fine on my PS2 console as far as I know.
All I can say is that despite a couple of "this game is just ok" and even "bad" reviews, I find the concept interesting and I've wanted to play this game for ages, waiting on it now.

After that, I'm going to be importing BAD DAY L.A on pc, and also grabbing a copy of another old PS2 game I always thought looked quite cool "E.O.E".

Vodstok 07-07-2008 05:55 AM

Perseus mandate is starting to pick up a little. its still no extraction point, but its getting better.

i just want to shoot monsters really.

Angra 07-08-2008 01:47 PM

World Of Warcraft

again..

Is it just me being old, or are the quests very much alike no matter what level you are.

It's either gather alot of this and that, or kill alot of this and that, or bring this letter to somebody on the other side of the continent, or kill someone/ something deep within a dungeon/castle whatever. The last one is by far the most exciting, but also nearly impossible to complete if you wanna do it all alone.

Yes, i've been playing it a lot. Yes, i've got a headache. Yes, i'm going to bed.

Despare 07-09-2008 11:42 AM

Rockband

I had to borrow it from a friend to practice because somehow me and three other people (who had also never played the game) qualified (highest score of the night) for the Rockband finals at a local bar. If we practice hard enough maybe we can win the luxury party bus trip to a Tigers game and free dinner. I doubt it though, we suck. :)

Vodstok 07-09-2008 12:03 PM

having flashbacks of the guitar queer-o episode of southpark....

Daedalus 07-09-2008 02:01 PM

"Persona 3"
I am hooked, it's a great rpg

on a side note: I can't stand GH I have yet to play Rock Band so I'll save my judgements on that one

Most were much better than us but failed because they were trying it on too hard of a difficulty level haha. I used to play the drums so that's what I did and it came to me pretty easily, not quite like playing the real thing but it does use some of the same skills.

I don't know, I didn't like Guitar Hero but I enjoy the singing and drumming in Rock Band. :)

illdojo 07-10-2008 03:49 PM

The new Guitar Hero: World Tour looks pretty sick.
It's just like Rock Band......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_IV

Glad I wasn't the only one... I'm surprised that I didn't read more reviews saying, "I was bored out of my mind." Redundant, I can deal with as long as it grabs my attention to begin with.

I started playing Mass Effect today... Aaaaaaaaaaaaand... Dunno. Surprisingly hasn't grabbed my attention, either. Maybe I'm just ADD when it comes to video games. But I'm disappointed at how slow it is.

Anyone play Mass Effect and feel the same way? Does it pick up?

Freak 07-12-2008 01:28 PM

I didn't like it at all.To much walking around here and here and doing this and that.I played it for maybe a half hour and that was it.

So it's not just me then. Geez. Two strikeouts in a row: Assassin's Creed and now Mass Effect.

Which is a shame because I thought that Bioshock was so ridiculously incredible and it really renewed my interest in video games.

What do you usually play, Freak? Any recs?

Freak 07-12-2008 04:39 PM

I'll give just about anything a try but I prefer shooters.I play Call of Duty 4 alot as well and Gears of War.The Condemned games are pretty good.

Oh and I loved Assassin's Creed.Massive world to explore and no limits to where you can go.

ChronoGrl 07-12-2008 08:13 PM

Assasin's Creed to me felt a mile long but about an inch thick... Huge world, but not much to do in it but kill soldiers with your limited means... I mean, you're in the central of a BAZARRE, for Christ's sake... Why can't you do dealings and barterings? Why can't you interact with the town's people more than just running into them or pushing them gently?

Then again, I didn't get too far into it, so maybe it picks up?

the side missions are totally boring, but the campaign get pretty exciting.

get Elder Scrolls Oblivion. by far the best game i've played on the 360, not to mention one of the best games i've played ever. its TEN miles long and TEN miles thick. I got in close to 300 hours before i beat it, but thats because i spend the majority of that doing the hundreds of side mission scattered throughout the game.

I have Oblivion on the PC. And it definitely is one of the best games out there....Just don't expect to have much of a life once you start playing it. :D

I thought Assassin's Creed was a fun game. I had it on a rental, I've just been waiting on the price to drop to play it any further. It reminded me a lot of the "Thief" series. Thief was a bit more straight-forward though.

Right now, I'm playing The Orange Box and Unreal Tournament. :)

The Mothman 07-13-2008 03:37 PM

Im at the final level of Mass Effect. 50x more intense then the rest of the game. im in the midst of a staight up apocalypse, and the fate of the galaxy rests in my hands!!

friday13thfan 07-14-2008 09:12 AM

Rock Band for the 360.

I've never cared much for the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games. I think I just find it pointless, because I don't have to play a game to play a cover song.

_____V_____ 07-18-2008 07:02 AM

The Legacy Of Cthulhu.

Fan made game, playable by chapters. There are 16 of em...

The graphics look pretty dated, but the sound and the background scores are quite good. The story is pretty thick so far...and I am liking it.

Into Chapter 2 now.

psychooralien 07-18-2008 01:33 PM

Shadow of the Colossus
Final Fantasy X
Call of Duty 2
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
God of War 2
Battlefield: Bad Company
Street Fighter Alpha 1
Street Fighter EX2 Plus
Street Fighter Alpha 3

I've had allot of time to waste.

Yah - I think that Rock Band is a good party game, but I don't find myself playing with it by myself or even just with my boyfriend. I wouldn't have bought it for myself - the boyfriend got it for me for my Birthday.

...

HOWEVER

I am now playing The Darkness for the XBox 360.

Pretty damn good so far, despite some sketchy UI.

The Mothman 07-19-2008 07:39 PM

Spent a good nonstop 10 hours playing Assassins Creed today. i cant fathom why ayone would dislike it. it huge, its gorgeous, and its fun as hell.

I thought it was fantastic!

ChronoGrl 07-20-2008 11:23 AM

lol. Ok. That "anyone" would be me.

I didn't get all that far with it... Just around the part where you have to search out 12 peasants to save and I found it tedious with no little side tasks to keep my attention... Does it get any better? Or is it just not for me? I'm willing to admit that I might have cut this one a bit short.

VampiricClown 07-21-2008 02:40 PM

Still playing The Orange Box.

Already beat Portal, and am almost done with Half Life 2.

I am DYING for this. just havent had the disposable cash to get it.

I have been playing Unreal Tournament, the original one, since my pc was damaged, i havent had access to a machine capable of playing much more. UT still rocks though, it has aged pretty well. the graphics are obviously dated, but the gameplay is still great.

I love hearing repeated "HEADSHOT!" on maps like facing worlds. i just sit on top of the tower and pop off shots at the other team as they spawn (against bots, not people. that would make me an asshole)
