Ahhh bummer will stick with the Shriek Show disc then. You'll be getting the upcoming Exterminator disc from Arrow? I need to get their version of Savage Streets too. The artwork looks killer.

Recently picked up the BluRay collection of NOES films.
Featuring 1-5, Freddy's Dead, New Nightmare and a couple of episodes of the old "Freddys Nightmares" show, was pretty good value at $70AUD.

1: Remains the "scary" entry to the series in my personal opinion. I mean these days it doesn't come close to terrifying me but I quite like the representation of Freddy being a largely unknown creature, and he was just more imposing when he was simply a threatening killer, a dream stalker.

Still think it's probably the most "unique" of the series, and I can't say I altogether enjoyed it but it was interesting seeing the character in a different perspective. It's unfortunate that much of what was to follow stuck to a pretty simplistic formula, probably due in no small part to the feedback about this one. As I said..didn't really "like" it as such but it was a nice dark story, and it was interesting to sit through. The bird, the rat and the cat...very strange...

3: I think this is my favourite, at least it WAS for a time.
Very fun to revisit. Freddy is in good form in this one - still nice and sinister and while there's more comedy factor in his personality this time around he hasn't yet become the standup comedian of #4 and beyond.
I love that this was a semi-sequel to the first, it was great seeing Nancy come and (unfortunately) go, and while she went out with a particularly underhanded sly move on the part of the villain, she went out like a champ after helping along the "new generation", full circle and all that.
The scenes with her father and the doctor were a great addition.
It is just a fun Freddy film...

4: Hm...it's not bad...though kind've into crappy territory, and I'm not sure why I feel that way. In ways it had a better storyline than the third, it just didn't feel as watchable and maybe of lesser quality.
Though, on the plus side - Some cool more intricate and visually unusual dream sequences, and a heroine with some unusual talents and tendencies, a timeloop mindfuck that I thought was great and this is the first film to really delve into the history of Fred Krueger via the means of...a ghost...
It's not THAT bad at all really, perhaps that it was less Freddy and more "other" character focussed?
Just feels like it didn't quite pack the punch of the film prior.

Completely agree with everything you said though as much as I adore Part 3 Dream Warriors-the first remains my fave. The second one would have worked better as a standalone film but without freddy maybe as Amityville 3 instead of what was Amityville 3 if you know what I mean. Unfortunately the series went HUGELY downill after part 4-Parts 5 and 6 remain not just my worst films of the series but worst films ever made-if you looked up cash-in on youtube you'd see trailers for them both. Luckily Wes Craven's New Nightmare was a HUGE improvement and a very different direction for the series.

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) [2011]

This is a highly self indulgent aka controversy+attention grabbing effort from Tom Six that mainly focused on shock value. Even now it seems kinda funny that there are 2 min. & 37 sec. footage got cut in this release when they allowed quite a sufficient amount of gore, shit & disturbing elements in this version. Except of that reported brutal rape & masturbating scene I don't see the points why they removed all those other 'seemingly tolerable' scenes. Perhaps to boost the US or international theatrical & DVD release I guess.
Anyway, first of all the thing that disappointed me most was its premise or in what ground or character around this sequel story started off. This time they introduced another seemingly interesting character on the lead...a mentally handicapped fat little guy who works as a security guard in an underground garage somewhere and also a huge FAN of Tom Six's original HC film. Now, the way Mr. Six developed & portrayed this character in the film is actually kinda interesting with a tortured background but I just didn't like the fact that he's a crazy fan of HC-1ST SEQ & conducted the whole 10 person ass-to-mouth experiment by himself alone. May be there's a hidden dark meaning or message out there somewhere which I failed to get but I think this character of "Martin" needed a helping hand or would better suited as a helper/assistant of another crazed surgeon or failed/frustrated/freak medical student (or an apprentice of Dr. Heiter) by still getting the main attention throughout the movie as it was Martin who would control the major tricks & turns all the way. The way Martin presented in the story, he was actually quite unfit or incompetent for conducting HC experiment. Moreover, the way he was collecting 'the samples' from his regular job place without grabbing any attention from any authority/anyone or consequences was absurd. The black & white photography was an interesting & nice touch by Tom Six that little bit seems to gave a Lynchian-Eraserhead vibe on Martin's inside house sequence but overall Mr. Six didn't manage or not even intended to gave an artistic look to his film as he deliberately made an over-the-top grotesque showcase of bizarre sadism. There's actually nothing added to the story or consequence of original or 1st HC story. Moreover, they presented the original as a 'film' in this sequel (where I expected & preferred a follow up of the events happened in the 1st film) and who knows...may be we'll see another psycho in the "Final sequence" watching the 'Full Sequence' and conducting a 20 people linked gruesome centipede-experiment.

You know the ones....titles like Mad Doctor of Blood Island, Brides of Blood, and Beasts of Blood and the woman in prison movies like Women in Cages, The Hot Box, The Big Bird Cage and The Big Dollhouse. Interviews with the likes of Sid Haig, Roger Corman and more.
