even action movies have been 'smarter' lately - this one is a drawback.

one very funny scene with Robert Patrick and a Terminator reference though.

Elvis_Christ 01-19-2007 04:17 AM

You gotta check out Calvaire. Watched it again today along with Palindromes.
.... a total fuck yeh for both flicks!

yes I have seen it...yes and it sucked...

"Slither" ...I guess it was an okey 80's monster movie tribute...but I didnt like the Zombie crossover...unnecessary to use Zombie elements in a monster movie..it could have been a fine homage to for example "The Hidden" but instead it fell between two chairs ...it tried too hard to be everything in one movie

Zombie Beach Party AKA: Enter... Zombie King

Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, luchadores, gore, zombies AND it's from Canada. This is a rediculous movie full of cheap gore and bad acting but I loved it.

Bruiser

This movie is the essence of cool...great concept, very well acted (Jason Flemyng is always a treat)...Highly recomended. Its alot different than Romero's zombie saga, but IMO it's damn near as good.

Despare 01-19-2007 08:44 PM

Equilibrium
Felt like watching this one after mentioning it in another thread. Some amazing scenes and memorable moments, love it.

"El Dorado"

Highly entertaining re-telling of "Rio Bravo", Great story, great actors in a wonderful film. Not quite as good as "Rio Bravo" but still one of John Wayne's best movies.

Ultraviolet

It is better second time around but the CGI is very disappointing, and the choreography a bit over the top, i like the story tho, suspect i'll come to love it after repeated viewings

"The grudge 2" 7/10

Sadly predictable.

I think itīs time for Shimizu to end this series and move on with other projects. Coz itīs obvious that he doesnīt have many creative new ideas left for this one.. :(

Angra 01-20-2007 11:08 AM

"Bloodz vs. Wolvez" 1/10

A horribly bad movie with surprisingly decent actors. It reminded me of a schoolproject inspired by "Underworld" and "New jack city".

Donīt watch this movie. Not even if itīs on cable.

this movie was a shit sandwich

joshaube 01-20-2007 04:30 PM

Eternal - A beautiful Canadian flick.
Little Miss Sunshine - Makes me smile everytime. :)
A Beautiful Mind - Preferred the second act.
The Big Lebowski - Entertaining, and well written. :)

Next is The Thing and Lost Highway. Stupid company who released Lost Highway in Canada butchered it. Fullscreen, and a lower-then-VHS quality transfer. Ugh.

The hillside strangler.

Not a great movie but it was pretty full on, i watched it with my girlfriend, not sure if that was the right choice.

I was wondering why I hadn't heard of it 'til a few weeks ago...

The Godfather Part II

Ive been putting this off for so long its not even funny - the boxset has been on my shelf for around a year and a half, and until tonight I'd only watched the first one:o

Great movie...not quite as good as the first, but close.

El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006)

Holy shit. This is quality filmmaking. Horrifying, beautifully dark, powerful, and disturbing. And the cinematography was breathtaking.

The Descent (2006)

I watched it with a couple of friends who hadn't seen it before. They aren't horror nuts like me, so they haven't been as desensitized as I have, and those kind of people are always more fun to watch horror with. It was a blast.

Quest for Camelot (1998) 8 / 10

noctuary 01-21-2007 06:38 AM

The Black Dahlia. While I appreciate what de Palma was trying to do with his homage to film noir, in execution this film was terribly flawed. It was as if they tried to cram every element of the book into two hours, and it left the film a muddled mess. The main character's obsessive internal monologue was about the only high point here. And just let me say this: if there was ever a person who was miscast in the role of the femme fatale, it would be Hillary Swank in this film. She is a decent actress, but she was horribly miscast in this one. Avoid. Overall: 2/10

Freak 01-21-2007 06:57 AM

Gridiron Gang this movie is extra cheesy. 5/10
