Ansiktet (The Magician) (1958) Very interesting and pretty engrossing Bergman film; still fairly early on in his artistic explorations of the empirical vs. the inexplicable, and it definitely feels that way. Which I don't mean badly. Great characters; some very funny scenes and some very chilling ones, too. Absolutely worth a watch. |

Black Death
During the Black Plague, a group of warriors and a monk journey to a village that is not afflicted by the disease and is said to be inhabited by a necromancer that they have been ordered to kill. I liked it. I thought it would be more about the plague but it actually has a very heavy religious theme to it which worked well for it. The story was interesting and they didn't try to do too much with it. Sean Bean played the leader of the warriors. Between this, Lord of The Rings, and Game of Thrones, Bean seems very comfortable in this type of setting. The monk is actually the main character though and the most interesting one at that. I definitely recommend but dont watch it expecting something very creepy or a huge epic. |

A fanboy's dream come true! Easily the best X-men film after Singer's original, and one of the best superhero films ever made. The story, the characters and the effects are all top-notch, and Michael Fassbender eats up the scene everytime as the irrepressible Magneto. Go watch it in theaters while it is still up. * * * * |

Loved it. >>: A- The Last House on Dead End Street (1977) According to wikipedia...The director & the lead actor Watkins said he was high on amphetamines while making the film. He also said only about $800 was spent making the film, while the remaining $3,000 budgeted was used to buy drugs. I guess that's paid off well. >>: B- The Adjustment Bureau (2011) Oh, Emily Blunt! Always Love to see her on screen!:o >>: B Gothic (1986) A total chaos, total madness. >>: B- |
The Last House on Dead End Street is a great flick. So surreal and twisted.
------- Paul Fun enough but a little flat in parts. Reminded me of stuff like Short Circuit from the 80s only with more drug references. Get Him To The Greek Held off watching this one for awhile because I don't really find Russell Brand very funny. Jonah Hill was great and surprisingly P Diddy had me laughing my ass off. Somewhat uneven due to it's almost 2 hour running time but an interesting enough distraction. |

Still annoys me some. Though, this film was a lot better than I was gearing myself up for...definitely more tolerable than "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (which if you didn't know was ...kind of...a prequel, in that Brand played the same character), which I hated and found an absolute bore. I swear I think the only people who claim to have liked that film were Jason Segel fans that wanted to save face, the film is just NOT that good to warrant the amount people seem to "love" it. It was one of the most boring comedies in the last 10 years. But yeah, GHTTG was not too bad at all. The drug fight scene was the shit. |

And if you're gonna squeeze a ball of cocaine up your ass in an airport you find a bathroom, for crying out loud. Yea, that scene annoyed me. And the two lead actrors? NOT FUNNY!!! |
