The CGI is absolutely brilliant.
I thought the film tried a wee bit to take itself too seriously in the beginning, and it was a slow buildup for the first 25-30 minutes. The length of the film could have easily lost at least 10-15 minutes and that would have made it a really fantastic ride. Otherwise, the characterisation is just about spot-on and Hemsworth looks every bit as the Norse God we all love, the pacing after the first half hour is perfect, and the action sequences are downright delicious. As it stands, it's good. Really good. Just like how a Thor film should be. Don't forget to check out the surprise cameo - it is indeed a real surprise!;) |

Kill The Irishman - 5/10
Light on narrative and heavy on cameos. Basically, it's a reasonably dull, factual gangster flick played by a seemingly endless procession of familiar faces from any gangster movie of note. Just a small point, the 'Irishman' definitely had an American accent :). I wonder if that'll show up in a movie bloopers show. Inception - 7/10 I was pretty tired last night when I put this on, so I may be being hard on it but, I thought it dragged a bit. The balance of effects with plot with acting performance was really balanced. There is real substance here, as you would expect from a Di Caprio movie. It was about 20 mins too long but still good. |
