Pi.

Brilliant, and original to boot!

Ferrara's "China Girl"

EXTR3MIST 03-01-2005 02:37 PM

And Snuff Trap - by Bruno Mattei under a pseudonym.

Cheap, bad-soap-opera feel to it (in fact, not unlike Fantom Kiler with which it shares some of the sleazy atmosphere achieved from the "shot-on-video" look) and atrocious dubbing, but some nicely european fake "snuff" scenes to put the likes of 8mm into context.

In fact, it's interesting to observe the difference between directors' interpretations of the snuff myth - compare the safe, bland depictions in a Hollywood production like 8mm through the kinkier, more aggressive Snuff Trap to the unflinching and super-exploitive Guinea Pig episodes.

Wort movie I watched today, but it wasnt outright terrible: Sky Capitan and the World of Tomorrow.

*******SPOILERS. VERY MASSIVE SPOILERS******

*******************REQUIRES ANOTHER WARNING. MASSIVE, MOVIE RUINING SPOILERS******************************

The best part of the whole movie[Aside from a few of the special effects] was [I warn you again, MASSIVE spoiler] when we learn that Totenkopf was dead the whole time, and it was simply his machine carrying out their orders. Best part, one of the only good parts, actually....

******END SPOLIER**********

A few of the special effects were amazing, but some other ones looked like they came straight out of cheesy adventure shows in the mid-late 90's, when they though CGI looked good[IE: Sinbad]. Overall, it was orth watching, but nothing spectacular.

BH14 03-01-2005 07:50 PM

Hard Boiled.... you won't find a movie that uses more rounds than this. Good plot, cool characters and lot of gun fights. 8.5/10

IDrinkYourBlood 03-01-2005 08:29 PM

Night Walker. a vampire anime. quit kick ass.

Re: last movie

"The Bourne Supremacy" (2004)..not as good as the first but a good action movie...To fast editing...which dont fit this kind of movie...instead of holding one camera wiew some seconds they choose to cut from a lot of angles... all the time....

"Collateral" (2004)...a dissapointing thriller....not believable...ok entertainment ..

BH14 03-02-2005 10:17 AM

The Verdict

Very good movie... It makes you hate lawyers even more. Newman does a great performance, but I thought the ending should have been a little bit long and better. It was too quick.

42ndStreetFreak 03-02-2005 04:25 PM

Abel Ferrara's first movie, the hardcore "9 Lives of a Wet Pussy"

Exorcist-The Begining

It was kinda slow and tidius at times and there was a specific scene I didn't care for but overall I think it was pretty good.

Sandler : 'he called the shit poop' - laughing
McDonald : 'this is the best night of my life'

I think the funniest SNL stuff came from Jane and Dan on the weekend update desk and almost everything Dana Carvey did was hilarious.

in short.... it is very good.

The story during the film is complex but is told simplisticly. Superb scenery and architecture, surrounding superb combat sequences. I recommend it, if you are a fan of sword and staff fighting.

is it like Kill Bill martial arts or is it like Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon martial arts?

and if it's the latter then is it just completely ridiculous? for example the tree hopping scene in Crouching Tiger.

thats the trouble with you yanks, you want all fucking guns blazing and constant firepower and swearing to boot. It's nothing like kill bill.... kill bill is way below this. Tarantino only got his name plastered all over the r1 and r2 covers so that Miramax could sell it in the States, as it would be a non-seller without his endorsments. There's nothing rediculous about the film at all.. it's a different style of directing a combat scene, thats to difficult for some people to grasp.

BH14 03-03-2005 03:10 PM

Iron Monkey rules!! Just as good if not, maybe little bit better...

But Fist of Legend (with Jet Li) is the best kung fu movie!

zwoti 03-03-2005 03:13 PM

I was just asking if the martial arts was the same style and Kill Bill was the first thing that came to mind that had something to do with sword fighting.
