Dude Guadalupe 05-15-2008 02:53 AM

I started playing American Mcgee's Alice yesterday. I had played maybe a few minutes of it a few years back and I decided I would give it another look. It took a little tweeking to get it to work with Linux but it's all good now.

I think I might replay Undying after that.

urgeok2 05-16-2008 06:00 AM

i finished Halo 3 last night !!!

so between that and getting killed in Battle Royale : I'M FREE ! I'M FREE !!!

(as soon as i finish working on the 4 computers i'm fixing for friends, and copying a half dozen or so DVDs for various people..

Phalanx 05-17-2008 06:14 PM

I don't know....finished one, hadn't thought about more.
Probably something on ps2, unless they throw more stuff my way from work.'

Hm...I may FINALLY get into onimusha.
Any fans of that series? Looks pretty cool to me.

...Ha, I just remembered, I'm still on the last stage of Shadow of the Collossus, I should probably beat it so's I can give it back to my friend at work.

Haven't played much of it but wasn't Jean Reno in one of them?

Phalanx 05-17-2008 10:34 PM

Yeah, the third one takes place partially (I think) in the modern day, and JR's a playable character, a cop or something like it...?
But yeah, will have to get through 1&2 before I consider that.

urgeok2 05-21-2008 08:39 AM

played Prey for a few minutes the other day - kind of fun,.

newb 05-21-2008 12:15 PM

Only two episodes right now and they're brilliant. Both episodes continue the story told in HL2 and I have heard rumors that episodic content will continue until HL3 is released. Episode 1 is a fun ride but 2 is by far superior I think and actually brings Portal locations and characters into the world. Speaking of Portal it's a mind bending intelligent ride that's filled with dark humor and brilliant puzzles. Couldn't recommend it more. Oh, there's some multiplayer game on there too. ;)

I've played and beaten the first 3, awesome series, its a typical hack and slash, but the story and characters make it worth it.

Nope, don't think so.

I'm running around next to a railway. Only been playin for an hour or so.

Phalanx 05-28-2008 04:30 PM

I thought the first level was pretty annoying actually...the guys chasing you and that...it gets better, but in all honesty (have not yet played the "episodes" of #2) I think I preferred the first one quite a bit more.

Been trying to get through x-men legends, got to some annoying shit on a sinking boat...timed mission...the level design is just piss poor on this level too.

Vodstok 05-30-2008 07:07 PM

hl2 rules.

I am playing Dark Queen of Krynn. Yep, the ancient (almost 20 years old) SSI D&D game. kicking draconian ass.

it's hard!

ChronoGrl 05-30-2008 07:54 PM

My boyfriend recently purchased Bioshock for the XBox 360 and we've just recently started playing it. Didn't think that I'd be all that interested (I've always been a Nintendo/Metroid kind of girl), but I have to say that I'm fairly impressed.

This game is post-apocalyptic, scifi first-person shooter joy. This is really the first time that I've tooled around with the XBox, so I'm having issues aiming and shooting. Personally, I prefer to whack people with the wrench.

Anyone else play Bioshock?

ManchestrMorgue 05-30-2008 07:57 PM

Yeah I did play Bioshock on the PC.

It was a good game, the graphics were pretty amazing. And the Art-Deco design looked really good.

The game itself had an interesting plot.

Must admit, I haven't played it for a while (since I reinstalled my PC). Have been meaning to get back into it but there are so many good games....

ChronoGrl 05-30-2008 08:05 PM

To tell you the truth, it's been a long, long time since I've gotten into a video game... Metroid Prime for the Game Cube was the last one. The boyfriend got me the XBox for my Birthday but I've been hesitant to play any games for fear of getting sucked in... But Bioshock is pretty damn captivating...

Again, problem is, I'm a terrible shot. Oh, and I'm a total pussy when things are jumping out at me.

My boyfriend: But you love horror movies. How can this scare you?!

I think I'd probably fare better if I were playing this on the PC rather than the XBox.

My favorite scares in that game are when something sneaks up on you and just kind of waits... so when you turn your character around there's a creature staring right at you. They did that with System Shock 2 as well, very effective. :)

I do find FPS games to be easier/more intuitive with keyboard and mouse. So I tend to get them on PC if they are available. Can't come to terms with aiming with a control pad.

urgeok2 05-31-2008 05:41 AM

bioshock is the next game i'll play when i have the time to commit to it.

One of the creepy doctors were doing that after the boyfriend found the Inferno Plasma. Mark turned our character around a little bit...

Me: THERE'S SOMEONE THERE!
Mark: *turns in other direction*
Creepy Doctor: *ATTACKS*
Me: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH I TOLD YOOOOOOOOU!
Mark: GodDAMN it, Amanda!

It's funny because Mark doesn't scare easily at all... Unless I jump and scream... THAT'S when he jumps out of his skin.

I'm also impressed with the use of light and shadow, and I love the fact that if you hide, the beasties will just whale on each other.

I honestly recommend Bioshock for those of you who haven't played it. It's brilliantly done, beautiful, and wonderfully macabre. Not to mention, it combines three of my favorite things: Science Fiction, Post-Apocalypse, and Eugenics. mwahahahahahaha

I just wish I was a better shot... And not as much of a pussy. :o

We're currently looking for that damned dentist office key.

Weird...Maybe I'm immune to the scary stuff now days. I played through this and most of Condemned(Haven't finished it yet), without even the slightest flinching. Yet my girlfriend, and a bunch of other people I talk to, said those games scared them...Well, my girlfriend wasn't scared playing Condemned, just Bioshock. But still.

Fatal Frame used to scare me, but I played it the other day, and I was wanting a jolt or two, but got through two levels without even a slight nervousness.

Bioshock rocked though. One of my favorite games. Can't believe I didn't buy it sooner.

Phalanx 05-31-2008 07:17 PM

I'm just glad it's set to come out on ps3 as well...not actually a port, but a proper release...I always thought it looked good.

Phalanx 05-31-2008 07:19 PM

Trying to get through x-men legends (1) which I've been playing on and off for some time now. I'm on some asshole timed level where you're on a sinking boat...pisses me right the fuck off, I'm about 7 tries in now...but I know it's a good game - there's just always some fuckhead developer that throws in a stage nobody really likes to "add challenge"...

That level is rough...I had to beat it in co-op mode. I'd give you some tips, but its been AGES since I played it...

I have a friend who is really into horror video games and he says that the Fatal Frame games are the scariest that he's ever played... I'm intrigued, but know that they would scare the FUCK out of me.

FOUND 'EM!

Elusive little fucker.

Need for Speed ProStreet (PS3)

Actually this is more fun than I thought it would be. Got it cheap so thought I would give it a go, but am usually not that interested in arcade racers (prefer simulations). Fun being able to do drag races as well as circuit races.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance (PS3)

Not bad, completed the first mission. Mainly a beat-em-up with a few RPG elements (your characters level up, you can choose different heroes for your party of 4 etc).

Fatal Frame is one of the roughest. But I think once you play a few games like that, you get used to it.
