ya know how sometimes you watch a movie a second time even if you hated it the first time just to see if something would be different and it turns out you actually start to like it?

Vinyl :

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120454/

amazing compelling film.
All shot here in toronto (good luck finding it)

an independant film made by a guy shooting the camera into a mirror - trying to figure out his life - while interviewing vinyl collectors. trying to get to the heart of their obsessions ..

it is funny a lot of the times, very moving at other times ..

its a shame most of you would never be able to find it because the people on this forum would love it - especially the older guys (newb) here.

I still have quite a bit of vinyl [ surely not 1/10 of what urge most likely has].
Some "audiophiles" swear by it and think its a better reproduction of the music.I guess my ears can't quite pick out the subtleties of which they speak.

I do hear the occasional scratch or dust build up though.

the movie really concentrated on the actual obsession ... for most of these guys it wasnt even about the music ... it was far weirder ..

and these guys made me look like a beginner .. collections of 500,000 to 1,000,000 records ... guys whos houses were so full they couldnt walk in them ..

christ even i could never be that insane - and for me it IS all about the actual music ..

Well as far as movie watching, I haven't watched one movie all week.I plan on ending tha streak tonight.I'm gonna sit down with a cold one and set up my projector [ i made a temp screen out of a shower curtain liner no less....looks pretty good, until my proper screen i ordered on e-bay comes in.] I'm not quite sure what i will watch ...thinking about Shaun of the Dead.

how much did the screen on ebay cost you ?

newb 06-10-2005 06:49 AM

Its a DA-LIGHT 80 x 60 screen.With shipping it was only $200.
I have been pricing them and that ain't too bad for a new screen.
