Very cool!

BLOOD FEAST (1963). Back in the early 90's, started a little bi-weekly meeting I called "B-Movers" where a group of us would bring over munchies and go to someone's residence to watch 2-3 films, usually ones that were older or a little unusual-or in plain speaking, not the stuff the masses made into big hits that usually weren't that good. Not surprisingly, most of them were held at my place and would usually show a couple of trailers (usually from SINISTER CINEMA VHS's), a Warners Cartoon or Three Stooges short before beginning.
Also, not surprisingly, I would always sneak a Horror film in . Had some unusual linesups in there like FIEND WITHOUT A FACE/WIZARDS/USED CARS, SERIAL MOM/THE TINGLER, CAPE FEAR (62)/HENRY:PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER to name a few.
The very first meeting had THE BIG HEAT (1953-EXCELLENT crime film I highly recommend)/BLOOD FEAST/DRACULA (Spanish version of the Lugosi film).
Probably the first all out gore film with lots of splatter, limbs being chopped off, internal organs being removed, sadism etc etc. Also, probably some of the WORST acting ever, non existent production values and a maddening organ/tympani score . . Many groaned at the defects, but appreciated the action and for a few weeks, "Make The Heart of an Old Man Glad!" was uttered among us.
Re-watching it again recently, it is pretty awful, but still pretty intense in the bloody scenes. Also lots of laughs, particularly when Mrs Freemont meets with Fuad Ramses...the mind boggles. Many classic lines such as "Have You ever had...AN EGYPTIAN FEAST??!!??", "THis Man is Uncanny!", "It all happened so Fast!" and my favorite "Now...PROVE You Love Me!"
Also, it's only 70 minutes, so before your tolerance runs out, it's practically over! **

LAND OF THE PHAROAHS (1955). Very campy film about the building of the Giza pyramid in Egypt with a young Joan Collins already starting her evil ways! ***

Watching "Psycho" right now on the Sundance channel. Looks like they're having an Alfred Hitchcock marathon. Next movie up is "The Birds".

If my math is right anyway. I'm kinda a sped at math so I'm likely wrong. ::big grin::

It's hard to introduce this movie to people who have no appreciation for suspenseful build up or black and white films. Why do I bother... ::roll eyes::

i love Psycho so much, and i know what you mean about people not appreciating it. My niece was watching Bates Motel (which i also love) but she had never seen the movies so i let her borrow them and she only watched the first one said it was OK but didn't watch the others.I don't know how she can do that if you like the TV show you should love the movies. I'm I right.

Island of Lost Souls

I recorded this months ago, and I think I watched it before, but I'm watching it again to finally check my tape for a clean recording and get it ready for more recording.

Based on my favorite book, naturally I enjoy this movie. It's a good adaptation, with a better Moreau than the '96 film... Although the animals in that were more creative. Lost Souls is very basic but gets its point across with its filming and care to atmosphere.

I hear that a lot. I don't know whither to be grateful to shows like Bates Motel for reviving the franchise and bringing attention back to it, or to hate it because you get these brain dead trolls with no respect for the original material... But I do watch Bates and enjoy it so I s'pose I'm stuck somewhere in between.

How old is she?

Psycho 1960 is an adult film. I'm not surprised a young person wouldn't comprehend the intrigue of the first half, it's quite an elaborate bates and switch.

Or maybe, as a young 2016 woman, the social roles are too alien to her?

An Abbott and Costello fest for the long weekend...Biggest shocker was spotting Tor Johnson in the last one.
