I liked this a lot. Should've got round to watching it sooner.

Just got I Spit On Your Grave from Netflix and realized I had seen this numerous times.
I don't know what I was thinking I was getting, but kinda bummed as I had seen it fairly recently.


Still, it's a classic in my book, and I certainly wasn't going to send it back without watching it, lol.
Glad I did actually. Good rain here today and a good movie. It turned out pretty cool.

Whiteout

Welllllllll...I ll be kind and say it was decent. The twists were real eye-rollers, plus it seemed as if they could never quite decide if they wanted to make a masked killer-slasher film or an action film set in the Antarctic. Some beautiful camera shots of the coldest place on earth, and some good action sequences. Final say - if you decide to skip this, you won't be missing much.


Elvis will drool at the one I saw immediately afterwards...

Pretty nice colorful trash from the early 80s.

Paths of Glory (1957). Probably Kubricks' first masterpiece, this flick expertly divulges the horrors of war, many of which occur away from the front. The cinematography was simply astounding, with beautifully composed scenes that elicit an explicit sense of realism. The charge into "no man's land" was splendid, taking away the exciting aspect of war, leaving only terror to accompany the troops. There are too many perfects scenes in this flick that warrant mention but will get no such support here, just go out and see this, again if that be the case. That said, the cockroach scene evoked one of the darkest one liners whose only response could be a nervous giggle. And just when the movie seemed over and could go no further, the last scene blesses the screen with a portrayal of symbolism that serves to move the hardest of hearts. That said, this was simply a picture perfect war drama helmed by a master.

I just watched "A Tale of 2 Sisters". SHEEEEsh. Can anyone tell me what this movie is about, or meant?
The cinematography and music were superb, but I still can't figure out what to make of the plot; if there was one it was very hazy.

Jennifer's Body (2009). A movie liked or hated, my vote goes to likin' it. tThose looking for an award winning experience from a teen scream flick should grow up. The opening was a well shot intro to the horrors that is to become Devil's Lake I mean Devil's Kettle. The story was worthy and darkly entertaining, with some funky teen dialog thrown in for good measure. The acting was strong, especially for a teen horror flick. The direction was solid, and the production values were strong. How the scenes unfolded, with competent use of parallelism and narration, was a definite boon. This one did not rely on effects, but neither did it shirk the camera away when things got gruesome. Then ending was handled nicely, not giving way to a simple Hollywood denouement, though cathartic nonetheless. Overall it was 100 minutes well spent. Merci beaucoup.
