The Road: I loved the book and I hate to say the typical line about movies made from books, but the book was far better. If I hadn't read the book first I would probably love the movie. I just found the book's atmosphere to be far more intense and brooding. Very well done movie, but it just didn't quite live up to the "movie" I saw in my head while reading the book.

"Funny people" 6/10

Felt very long and the title was as ironic as "Funny games".

The last joke, just before the credits started to roll, had me laughing tho.

Yeah, thought this was pretty darn good myself. And certainly a fair departure for Haneke in terms of style and execution.

I figured that would be the case, I was thinking as I watched it would've worked better as a book. I should definitely read it sometime. I loved The Road and if the book has better atmosphere I'm definitely down with checking it out.

Man I thought that flick was dull and uninspired. It felt like a made for TV movie. The main character's intensity was so watered down compared to the original. I wouldn't go around recommending it personally.

HP Lovecraft's "Necronomicon"- I don't suggest it. The first story was great, second story was a nice try and the third story was (at least how I took it) and pathetic attempt at an anti-abortion commercial with really bad cheesy gore and horrible acting. I also really didnt like the little library segments in between, they were unnecessairy.

This is Kick-Ass meets Taxi Driver folks - real life superheroics at their finest. Dark humor, brilliant script, perfect cast...a genuine must-see.

Ditto.

I have bought the dvd months ago but almost forget about it as it was in my big box of unseen dvds & that box is a mess. Thanks a lot to you bud as you mentioned & recommended it yesterday & thus I gave it a watch last night.

A beautiful heartwarming tale of a real life superhero! Undoubtedly one of the year's best.

Black Snake Moan (2006). The concept here could range from perverse to absurd, but instead this film is a solid entry. The oil water mix of Southern religion and sexuality are beautifully forced to come to terms with each other, and neither end up overcoming the other. Not a fan of explicit religiosity, this wonderful flick honestly demonstrates the ubiquitous Christianity of the region without alienating those less likely to kneel in devout prostration. The story itself was unique if not a little controversial. The acting by Samual Jackson and Christina Ricci was impeccable. The direction and camera work was flawless. Overall this was a splendid movie whose overall hints at the capacity for unsung heroes to help those in need. Merci beaucoup.

Shutter Island. Slow to start, but drew in. Absolutely brilliant if slightly mentally exhausting to watch.
Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. A wonderful fantasy take on Faust.

Both reccommended.
