Just watched Who Can Kill A Child. Fantastic movie; the movie that Children Of The Corn wanted to be. Many thanks to Ferox13 for recommending it.

Human Centipede (First Sequence)
Very intense and graphic. A mad doctor grafts three people, front to end, into a creature he calls a human centipede. Bloody, bizarre, gross, crazy... Available On Demand right now, even though it's playing in limited release in theatres. Check it out if you're into this kind of thing. |

Borrowed the complete Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan boxsets from a mate of mine (inspired after reading Me Cheeta: The Autobiography). I've not seen this in years and all I can say is WOW. There is so much priceless stuff in this - there is some great 'pre-national geographic' footage of African tribes used on a green screen while Jane and her big white hunter cronies parade on front of it berating their customs and costumes. Other bits of note: Jane undresses unfront of her father while slagging his prudishness (Maureen O'Sullivan is a real cutie in this) The bad guys are white midgets in black face - they capture people and drop down the killer ape pit. http://www.stomptokyo.com/sings/tarz...zan-dwarfs.jpg When a porter falls over a cliff some one asks what was in the box he was carrying. White people try to shoot/kill every living creature in the Jungle. All elephants wear huge false ears - of all the gaffs in this film who people in the 30's really know the difference between African and Indian elephants. My only dissapointment is that they only say 'JuJu' once in the whole file. But disspite all this its a great Jungle romp and Johnny's hair has oodles of charm - Cheetah on the otherhand has yet to come into his/her own. It was actually a lot cheaper looking than I remember - so it'll be interesting to see how shoestring it gets onces the series is handed over to RKO. |
The Brood (1979). With a premise that sounds anything but scary, this wonderful flick is truly chilling. Cronenburg takes his real-life pain and "manifests" it onto celluloid. The result is wonderful. With a perfect balance of on and off screen terror, this film is definitely a classic. The acting was great, with perfectly perfect performances by the main players. The kills were pretty aggressive, eliciting that beloved wincing of great horror flicks. The direction of course was phenomenal. This all time classic reveals that terror can definitely come in small packages. Merci beaucoup.
