Koyaanisqatsi: Brilliant. Thought provoking and visually superb, well worth watching for any that haven't seen it. It's the sort of film you can watch and take out of it what you want. Beautiful cinematography and stunning imagery complimented by a quality score.

Kick-Ass (2010)

I was worried at first - doesn't start out particularly strong - but man...once shit starts to hit the fan, it more than lives up to the name. My only gripe is that it was centered around the wrong character. Dave/"Kick-Ass" had his cool moments to be sure, but he was easily the least interesting character in the whole movie.

Still, worth seeing for sure. Some of the craziest action scenes I've seen in a long while.

Also just got back from Kick Ass. Surprisingly faithful to the comics and most of the changes are pretty understandable. There was a major difference in Big Daddy's backstory that I preferred in the comics and Red Mist was badly miscast, but I enjoyed it overall. Fucking crazy fight scenes!

Return, have you read the comics?

Sangre de mi Sangre (2007). This unflinching movie revolves around the desperate plight of the immigrant. The catch words are food and shelter: survival. We see how desperate people take towards desperate measures in order to survive. We cringe and yet try to understand, and we must come away with the notion that those aggressive, exploitative traits that we humans may express has made us survive as a species. The acting was first rate. And though the story revolved around some unbelievable coincidences, the twists and turns nevertheless entertain and add to the story and character development. The ending was unforeseen and perfect. The direction was superb. This was a painfully delightful watch. Merci beaucoup.

LOL!

That bad? Rue Morgue magazine thought that it was actually pretty fun.

Bet it was the remake. The original is not so bad for a trashy mindless 80s slasher.

The Rue Morgue guy actually thought that the remake was trashy fun too! He actually sold me on wanting to watch it. I was shocked.

Though I haven't watched it yet...
