City of God

Great movie. Not quite up to the rating it has on IMDB (18th best film of all time? Nope), but it's damn good just the same.

Cannibal Ferox (a.k.a. "Make them Die Slowly").

Didn't live up to the hype at all. It was slow, draggy, had extraneous plot points thrown in and it was almost mindnumbingly boring at many points. The sound was horribly mixed, and I had to keep turning the volume on my TV up and down the whole time to compensate. However, some of the effects were superb for its time and budget. It's one of those gorror movies you have to watch if you call yourself a gorehound...Sort of a rite-of-passage. ^^

Fight Club

Waiting. This one was a whole lot better than I thought it would be. Still a stupid teen comedy, but genuinely funny in parts, and the plot was fun.

Cube

W-o-w. Wasnt expecting alot, but got more than I could have ever wanted. Great gore, really smart plot, good ending, way above-average acting...what more do you need?

A better sequel? Eh...the second one had some interesting points, but overall completely different feel, and didn't much like the storyline, definately nowhere near as good as the first, which is what I think at least partly inspired saw.
Haven't seen the third (prequel thing) cube ZERO yet, I've got enough interest to pick it up though.

Ya, I really cant imagine the sequel being all that great. I'll probably check it out eventually, but Im not in a rush.

You really thought the acting was above average? While I liked the character of Leaven, I couldn't say Nicole or any other cast member did an ABOVE average acting job. It's typical of the grade of movie this is.

I did really enjoy it, though. :)

PS: If you haven't already... watch House of 9. It's basically Cube, only in a house, and without traps. Okay, so maybe it's not exactly like Cube. It has the same pitch though; see how people react when they're trapped in a confined area.

I thought the ending for House of 9 was a step up from Cube's ending.

THE PREMISE
9 people are locked in a large mansion, and given instructions through an intercom. They must slowly kill one another, and the last one living wins the prize - one million euros. At first, they try to get along - but of course, there is a limit to human effort.

SPOIL SPOIL SPOIL
THE ENDING
One girl remains, and the front doors of the house open - she grabs the money and runs for the light ahead of her. But the light wasn't what she was expecting - instead, the light comes from a room with a dozen others just like her. Crouched, clutching their bags of money tightly. She won't be seeing the outside anytime soon.

The_Return 11-18-2006 08:11 PM

Sounds cool, I'll have to check it out.

As for the acting, I didnt think they were too bad. The girl playing Helen wast great and neither was Quentin, but the rest were alot better than most movies of the sort.

*Spoiler*

I love seeing Wayne Robson in anything...shame he was offed so quick.

Casino Royale

The film is frustrating in that, the first really big action set piece is sooooooo good - I'm talking white-knuckle good - that the rest of the film feels like it's playing catch-up. ]

Daniel Craig is great.

The dialogue sounds good coming out of Craig's mouth, but everyone else falls flat, so I'm gonna blame the writing.

The Poker scenes are miserably boring...like I'm watching "Poker with the Stars"

...AND this is the bloodiest Bond yet.

I'm a sucker for these so I'm gonna say 7.5/10 as a whole... which by my scale falls between a good time and a great time at the movies:)

Werewolves On Wheels ~ This was actually a pretty good movie for an early 70's b biker/ horror flick. Complete with outlaw bike gang, satanic monks , a naked snake dance preformed by a hot biker mama, drugs, booze, brawls and gore. I was hoping for a gang of biker werewolves terrorizing the country side but didn't get that . Instead it's more of a satanic monk/ biker road trip w/ werewolfism as a symptom......er...movie ...7/10 .

I just could not get into, I probably didn't give it much of a chance though as I was blown away by the book and nothing could have live up to that in my eyes then. I should probably give it another watch.

Having said that I would just like to say that this in no way takes away from your resent picture posts. 10/10 :D

Started watching "Red Heat" last night, for the first time in about 12 years...it's good to throw yourself back into the 80's where either Arnie and Belushi could still make a good film...the pairing didn't quite work IMO, but it's still fun. Might've finished it if I hadn't just cycled a few k's prior...

It always was like a living comic book to me. The added stuff just made that point TOO obvious. The remake will be way to serious....

I just watched Children of the Corn. Pretty average. I liked the short story a lot better.
