Life is Beautiful.... pretty good movie

Angra 02-26-2005 03:24 PM

Just seen "Constantine" in the cinema.

It was so-so.

For a horror movie there wasn´t much horror and for an action movie it was too slow paced most of the time. Very well made though. But i left the cinema with an empty feeling inside.

While walking out of the cinema my cousin asked: "Wonder why the devil had black tar on his feet?"

And i could only answer: "Who cares...."

Michael Mann is doing the film version, Colin Ferrall and Jamie Foxx are playing Crockett and Tubbs.

didn't Michael Mann work on the series?

42ndStreetFreak 02-27-2005 01:03 AM

ICK! You can't better Johnson and Thomas!

Mann was the Executive Producer and wrote some of the episodes.
Just like on "Crime Story".

AUSTIN316426808 02-27-2005 01:06 AM

It's going to be funny not seeing them in it, but it might do ok...give it a chance you never know.

Marroe 02-27-2005 01:11 AM

Finally got to finish Bubba Ho Tep. I bought it a week ago, and haven't been able to get through it all until tonight. Perdy awesome flick there.

I'm watching Nosferatu right now. Got the DVD yesterday for about 3 bucks. It's hosted by David Carradine, and the score is by Type O Negative. Nothing better than that music to make an already freaky fucking silent film scare the fuck outa me.

That's what I was thinking. But he gave a pretty good introduction to it.

AUSTIN316426808 02-27-2005 01:28 AM

another one from Mr. Eastwood

Bridges of Madison County

great movie IMO.

AUSTIN316426808 02-27-2005 04:35 AM

just finished Heist

Gene Hackman killed it as he usually does, the acting wasn't great but alright. Overall I think it was pretty good I always like movies about a big elaborate Heist.

well my tank is on E and I'm going to see Sideways before the oscars tonight so I'm off, peace people:D

"Ricochet"...an action/thriller with Denzel...Very good acting by John Lithgow..This movie reminds me a little bit of "Face Off"...

ChEEbA 02-27-2005 06:01 AM

Yeah, richochet was cool...I always like it when I see denzel playing nutz and putting on the lipstick like a madman...shit makes me laugh.

slasherman 02-27-2005 06:05 AM

Completly agree, saw it a few weeks ago. Id still like to see the Sinatra version however...

watched The Anchorman last night ...
started slowly - thought it was going to bomb, but it picked up and got pretty funny thanks to the supporting actors.
I still dont think Farrell can carry a movie as a lead ... and he wasn't the best character in this film.

Still - a couple of really funny bits and lots of cameos.

then .. i watched The Dirty Seven

a crappy italian action film - lame in every way except one very beautiful girl. Other than that .. unwatchable without one finger on the fast forward button.

Brick was the best part of that whole movie. "I DONT KNOW WHY WE'RE YELLING!!" I thought it was pretty good.

BH14 02-27-2005 03:01 PM

"It smells like Bigfoot's !@c#"

haha... it wasnt Ferrell's best movie, but has a lot of cheap laughs.

Brick was easily the best part of the movie ... well, that and whatsername wearing that little kitchen garment in the fantasy sequence)

Actually today our kid said a couple of completely goofy things so we started calling him 'brick'

42ndStreetFreak 02-27-2005 03:26 PM

Abel Ferrara's excellent "Ms.45"/"Angel of Vengeance"

aborted 02-27-2005 03:50 PM

"Ray" and it was pretty damn good

Steve Carell, who played Brick is starring in an up and coming Get Smart movie playing Maxwell Smart. With him in it it could be good.

BH14 02-27-2005 06:16 PM

i see him on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart... He is very funny...

majorbludd 02-27-2005 07:40 PM

exorcist prequel......what a mess.

urgeok 02-27-2005 07:43 PM

Looks like The Phone is next up.

Elvis_Christ 02-27-2005 09:36 PM

Dark Water erie and good, but if you're getting into Jap stuff, I recently got Shutter, see pic below. It does follow the style of other Jap ghost films, but I found it to be more intence, with more scares.

ha ha I just got round to purchasing Phone myself, gona watch the next day off I have.

Marroe 02-28-2005 12:37 AM

the japanese are definately the new italians ..

a few people give flack to the sameness of some of the visuals .. (shuffling wet hair hanging down in the face women ..)
but i find it just as effective every time.

certainly a hell of a lot more effective than some slow moving goofball with a machette thats been redone in about 1000 american films.

I've been thinking about picking that up, but wasn't sure if it was worth buying...

I think they are both stupid. There, I said it :)

Most recently viewed movies:

The Chronicles of Riddick (Entertaining b-grade fluff. I love Vin Diesel as a psycho)

Collateral. Very good. i liked Tom Cruise as a bad ass. Jamie Foxx was excellent. I missed part of it because there was an entire track on the dvd that didnt play... :(

Best line in the movie:

"You killed him!"
"NO, I Didn't. The bullets and the fall killed him."

Last, the Manchurian Candidate. Though it was awesome. Definitely the best out of the 3. (Collateral was a close 2nd though)
