Patrick McGoohan played Ruth. Earlier in his career he starred in a TV series titled Danger Man, in which he played a secret agent. This led to The Prisoner, about a secret agent who tried to quit his job, only to find himself a captive in "The Village," where everyone is referred to by numbers, instead of names, and nobody talks about their past.
