It's an upbringing/conditioning thing, for not only faithfulness, marriage and monogamy to be considered moral, but also ?straightness? etc.
It's very ingrained, the whole stigma of gayness being wrong.
Not commenting if this is bad or good, just saying that it's not likely to change until a few moulds are broken.
Religion, not big on change. The more religion, the more conformity to the common theme.

The sex has pretty much always been legal in most US states. It's the marriage that's slowly becoming legal.

That's right kids, heartless cold sex with multiple partners is fine but god forbid being apart of a monogamous, loving, stable relationship!
