I know what they were trying to do--make a tongue-in-cheek little gorefest. That was just lazy and insulting.

Poughkeepsie Tapes-
I mostly found this movie boring. There was only one part I found scary and that was the weird crab walk while wearing a mask thing. As far as things that unsettled me, Stockholme Syndrome is sad. Over all though, overrated movie.

9-

I never saw this in theatres because I heard so many people say they were disappointed with the plot. I however, loved it. It was so cute, and I got really attached to the characters to the point where I was verbally rooting for them. Animation was actually the only thing that slightly disappointed me. I didn't like the simplicity of their 3D models, or how I could see just how everything was textured.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou-
Amazing. I suggest this for any indi-movie or BIll Murray fan. It's touching, and it's funny, and it's beautiful. Just wonderful.

Bon-Cop, Bad-Cop-

Had to analyze it for Canadian film class, and it's mediocre at best. Lots of stereotypes worth laughing at though, and their budget allowed for like... one explosion.

Hush

Solid and tense British thriller in the vein of The Hitcher and Duel. Enjoyed this one but thought the ending was a bit of a let down. Still well worth your time.

"The lovely bones" 5/10

Visually stunning, but boring storywise. And the girls soft narrator voice really annoyed me.

I feel like this movie always gets a bad rap. Glad to see you loved it, too.

The Bucket List First watch. Wanted it to be alot better than it actually was. Not to good, but watchable.

District 9 (2009). Everything about this movie except one thing was pretty good. The effects were awesome, the story was solid enough. Production value was high. But the one thing that really detracted the experience was it tone. It was almost as if the movie itself was never really comfortable in its own skin and would hence keep changing persona's, again finding itself out of character and uncomfortable. That killed it for me.

The Wrestler (2008). This is a simple yet spectacular offering from Darren Aronofsky. The tale is simply a snapshot of an aging pro wrestler's life, a life that is mess outside of the ring. The wrestling aspect of this flick is treated honestly and with respect. Yeah, these guys choreograph the whole thing, but the fact that they love their work and abuse their bodies to please the audience is proof that they deserve more respect than they will ever get. Micky Rourke is absolutely perfect in this role, which might symbolize his own present life. He is definitely staging a comeback with this great performance. Marisa Tomei does a great job as well, and how they made this sweetheart to look so hardened in the beginning is beyond me. Evan Rachel Wood's limited screen-time was wonderful. Of course the direction was brilliant, and Darren deserves the credit for squeezing these terrific performances out of his actors. Simply a wonderful, touching, and believably honest flick. Mercie beaucoup.
