vs.

Carrie White (Carrie)

MichaelMyers 10-31-2013 09:23 PM

Hmm.....Charlie Brewster.

Sculpt 10-31-2013 09:33 PM

The Abdominal Dr. Phibes (make a good crunch exercise commercial)

I'd say by the end, Dr Phibes character made more sense to me than Carrie. I don't think there was enough to work with for Spacek, but I didn't believe Carrie would start murdering her enemies, let alone strangers, like she did at the end.

Charlie in Frightnight is a nice chap, who I completely forgot about at the end. For me, finding Charlie as my favorite character in horror film would be like my favorite color being clear.

neverending 10-31-2013 11:50 PM

Carrie was rebelling against her entire abusive upbringing, not just reacting to the events of the night in question. You underestimate the power of teenage angst.

Even so, I vote for Phibes as well.

Count Dracula/Vlad the Impaler

Anthropophagus 11-01-2013 06:47 AM

Erik by a mile

DrFrankensteinsGirl 11-01-2013 09:26 AM

Oh God I'm stuck between Frederick Frankenstein and Erik. On the one hand it's Frederick Frankenstein and we all now how much I love the men of the Frankenstein family. But then there's Erik and Lon Chaney's iconic performance as the Phantom. Umm...gosh V why do you make these choices so hard? lol I'm gonna have to shame myself and go with Erik, no one can beat Lon Chaney.

realdealblues 11-01-2013 09:38 AM

Erik (The Phantom of the Opera 1925)

The picture of Lon Chaney in that make up is just too iconic and memorable.

Sculpt 11-01-2013 01:34 PM

Tough choice. All did well with tough roles. I think Vlad might have been the toughest, which isn't generally isn't good for a character. A vlalid effort. I have to go with Erik (The Phantom of the Opera 1925).

I agree, and was aware, Carrie was rebelling against her entire abusive upbringing, not just reacting to the events of the night in question. Trust me, I know the power of teenage angst, I've been there. I consider it a given a teen would kill. It happens, but 99% of teens don't. But I wasn't estimating teenage angst and teen killing. I was talking about my assessment of the Carrie character portrayed in the film 'Carrie 76'. I didn't see the film portray a change in Carrie's character that would have lead her to kill innocents, but rather a more assertive young lady, willing to defend herself with her powers, but still with a solid conscience and empathy. I certainly understand why some would disagree; it's a rather subjective thing to assess.

The Villain 11-01-2013 02:47 PM

Definitely Erik

_____V_____ 11-02-2013 12:31 AM

Erik the Phantom - 5 (Anthropophagus, DrFrankensteinsGirl, realdealblues, Sculpt, The Villain)

God this one is even harder lol. I'll go with Frederick Loren, sorry Ash you're just no match against Vincent Price.

MichaelMyers 11-02-2013 04:13 AM

Ash to even things up.

Kandarian Demon 11-02-2013 06:43 AM

Ash - as much as I love Vincent Price, I don't think that particular character can compete with Ash.

Ash (The Evil Dead/Evil Dead II/Army of Darkness)

Sculpt 11-02-2013 11:34 AM

tough one. Ash (The Evil Dead/Evil Dead II/Army of Darkness)

Interesting coincidence, I was just admiring the acting job of Father Merrin while grabbing some sound clips from Exorcist. Hollywood has always had a huge problem of finding actors who can convincingly play an individual of faith. I'm just speaking of what I've seen, not making a joke about Hollywood.

Frederick Loren is one of my favorite characters, but like Ash better.

ChronoGrl 11-02-2013 12:31 PM
