I haven't checked it out yet because I thought it looked on par with All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (or whatever the fuck that shitfest was called).

Le Deuxieme Souffle (1966). Another great gangster film by Melville. i think that most detractors dis on this film for being too long. But there is a difference between being too long and a movie that happens to be long. There is nothing that should have, or even could have, been edited out. Melville always spends lots of time in the actual caper, giving them a real time feel. That this movie takes its time developing characters and the story is blessing and not a distraction. Melville also did a great job giving this one a clostraphobic feel for much of the film, only to open it up in the middle with great effect. If ya like hard-boiled characters and films with likable villains (Ventura was awesome), great detectives (Meurisse was equally awesome), intrigues, betrayals, twists, and the "code," then this film will be anything but too long. Ashe.

A Moscow charity concert turns bloody when armed extortionists take the head liner American pop-star Venus and the Russian President Petrov hostage. But help is on the way when the drummer from the warm-up band cum a California ex-biker (Dolph Lundgren), and a young Russian F.S.B. agent team up to try to save the day.

The 400 Blows (1959)

Not a particular 12 year old boy in Paris, this beautiful landmark of cinema actually depicts the stories of millions of Antoine Doinels all over the world.

Glad I have it on Criterion DVD, there are some nice features added...the short romantic sequel: Antoine and Colette, audition footage of those talented child actors (specially I think the boy with bit curly hair who teared an entire notebook in the class had lots of potential for sure) and some interviews of Truffaut.

Necromentia (2009)

Slow paced with some average or weak acting skills, I think this new indie flick still delivered better than the expectations. Somewhat inspired by Clive Barker's stories, this weird little film tells three intertwined stories in a non-linear fashion. Centering around 3 characters...it tries to build a surreal world (Hell) of what happens when you meddle with superstition and try to cross into another dimension using the powers of a tattooed Ouija board on someone's body!

Worth a watch.

A Bay of Blood (1971)

A great Slasher masterpiece that does exactly what it sets out to do. Grippingly showcase 13 bloody murders that has a great deal of influence on later films of this sub genre of horror. Bava's gore-fest manages to remain fascinating all the way through, as it turns out that the first murder scene sets off a violent chain of events that results in a very high body count with a very interesting ending.

Nope, but they were a welcome change from all the bullets flying around the house in the past 18 days.
