Started on "The Hurt Locker." - whoever said this movie was tense as all hell they weren't shitting. Very good so far in my opinion, looking forward to catching the rest tomorrow.

almost as good as I remember

Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972)

A fantastic later addition of the series. It's pretty well packed & nicely paced; Lee and Cushing are, of course excellent, the Hammer beauties like Caroline Munro (though appeared with a short role) and Stephanie Beacham (looked stunning at the final showdown) and the overall 70's tone made it highly enjoyable.

A pretty decent suspenseful entertainer with an effective background score. Also the performance of John Ryan as the father was simply great to watch.

As a remake I think it's just okay considering it's effort. It has a different approach in the storyline from the original and those alterations or the changes weren't enough for ruining anything that much. A time passing fair treat.

Btw, in matter of comparison...as almost based on the same theme, this year's dark horror gem Grace (2009) is obviously the superior one.

Le Samourai (1967). i think that this flick by Melville would be best seen without review of any kind, save for that it was absolutely brilliant. For the guys out there, it is not a chick flick so that should not stop ya from seeing this incredible French classic. i cannot help myself, though, and must say that Alain Delon's perfomance was superb. Ashe.

absolute mess of a film

Goya's Ghosts (2006)

More amazing work from Milos Forman...he might not be as prolific as some other great directors (he's made less than 10 movies since Cuckoo's Nest in '75), but I've yet to see him create anything less than stellar.

This incredibly dark and powerful period piece is not only beautifully realised, but features a cast of powerhouse performers: Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgård and Natalie Portman all inhabit these characters and deliver some truly powerful moments.

Didn't know what to expect from that as I knew next to nothing about Goya going into it...ended up being very impressed.

The Hills Run Red (2009)

A better effort (rather than go for a remake of 80's slasher & for the attempt of avoiding some cliches) and slightly an above average homage for the genre fans. Though I think it could have been better in some area at the end parts but overall it's a decent time passing slasher entertainer.

Dirty Pretty Things (2002). A grimy story of the tribulations of illegal immigrants and what they must endure (and perform) for those most willing to take advantage of them. The cast was a treat, for they were not only solid actors, but there was nary a standard fare Englishman amonst them. Chiwetel Ejiofor as Okwe portrayed his angelic though tortured character beautifully and deserves an award for his performance. When Audrey Tautou finally let down her stern manner of consternation it was almost a relief. This was definitely a dark, cerebral, and even poetic flick that makes the viewer forget that he is watching a movie. Ashe.
