Reincarnation

From the director of Ju-On, Reincarnation was one of the films of After Dark's 8 Films to Die For 2006. At first it was slow-moving (though I find that this is a problem that I have with many Asian horror films), but as soon as the action picks up, the payoff is definitely worth the wait.

Taking place mostly in a hotel that was the scene of a previous spree of brutal murders, this film definitely has the feeling of The Shining at times. The "ghosts" are definitely in your face, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The suspense is fantastic, and there's a twist that I actually didn't anticipate. The end is macabre, creepy, and fantastic.

I give it 4 stars out of 5. A -

Battle Royale

Fucking amazing movie! Violent, yet touching. I actually cared for most of the kids, instead of just wanting to see them die (like I thought I originally would). Great movie! A must-see!

Evil Dead Trap ~ one I have mixed feelings about, I liked a lot of it, some of it......not so much. And I didn't care for the ending at all. Overall it was worth watching, I suppose.

i watched Oldboy for the first time yesterday. Must say i was quite impressed, it wasnt EXACTALLY like the manga, but im not complaining. I'd give the movie an 8/10, due to the fact that the ending was debatable.

"Dragon tiger gate" 6/10


Started out very well and promising with very talentet actors/fighters, great choreography and shots, but then they started using a shit lot of wires and cgi effects and the movie ended up being as lame as its title... Too bad.

Last two I saw were Men Behind The Sun - And needless to say made me cringe with disgust... And Tetsuo: Iron Man which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Dark Tales of Japan

5 stories....

1. Spider Woman: Quite lame and funny.

2. Crevices: 2nd best of the tales. Little bit short but enjoyable. The red tapes reminds like another version of "Pulse".

3. The Sacrifice: Disappointing. I didn't like it.

4. Blonde Kwaidan: Worst one of the tales! The plot made no sense at all. It has been 2nd time that I get very disappointed with Takashi Shimizu after Marebito.

5. Presentiment: Best one. Perfect for TV audiences. Quite simple story that executed quite well.

Overall, a decent collection of J-horror stories and better than some overrated long length features.

Kung Fu Hustle - Great fun 8/10

I think it was here (or somewhere)---where I heard mention of Naked Blood.
Read a little synopsis of it and actually found it.
Sooo I watched it yesterday and the only complain I have was the dry heaving I went thru after a certain scene ...(and the laughing that followed afterwards)
Really really liked it ...thought it would be just all self cannibalism but it had a real good plot to it.
The latex and all the effects were purty gnarly.
