Sad to hear about Ali. ::sad:: Got his poster on my wall, & it's helped me get through many workouts. He's a great inspiration to me personally. Boxing is one of my favorite sports. ::love::

I guess it's understandable, not super old or anything - but his health has been a bit shaky for a while now.

He's really been gone a long time... basically silent since 1981.

Very talented young guy, this is really a shame

Whaaaaat??!!! ::shocked::

That's really, really sad. ::sad::

Smeg Head1 06-19-2016 11:46 PM

Strange way to go as well! A shame, I've always liked his work.

was killed by his own car as it rolled down his driveway early Sunday, police and his publicist said.

The car pinned Yelchin, 27, against a brick mailbox pillar and a security fence at his home in Los Angeles, Officer Jenny Hosier said. He had gotten out of the vehicle momentarily, but police did not say why he was behind it when it started rolling.

Yelchin was on his way to meet friends for a rehearsal, Hosier said. When he didn't show up, the group came to his home and found him dead.

Loved Hearts in Atlantis when I first saw it few years back...but didn't realize Anton was playing that young Bobby Garfield! One of the finest young contemporary actors. He was great in Fright Night remake and sad now we won't get a Odd Thomas series with him on the lead; loved that movie too.
And I'm sure we all are eagerly waiting for The Green Room that already got lots of positive responses from the genre fans & critics.

R.I.P Anton. You'll be missed terribly ::sad::

Roiffalo 06-20-2016 12:43 PM

Son of a whore!! I was told about Anton's death yesterday and thought he was Chekov in the Star Trek reboot, I was assured he wasn't, but I had to google it to be sure after you guys reminded me. Fucking hell. I hate it when I'm right. He was one of the only things I liked about the new movies... By a freak accident, how horribly tragic...

Director if Wicker Man

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-36693545

Film director Robin Hardy has died at the age of 86, a family friend has confirmed.

He was best known for cult British film The Wicker Man, starring Sir Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward.

The 1973 film told the story of police sergeant Howie, played by Woodward, who was sent to search for a missing girl on the fictional island of Summerisle.

Hardy, who went on to make follow-up The Wicker Tree in 2011, died on Friday, the friend said.

Last year, Hardy said he wanted to make a third Wicker Man film as a tribute to Sir Christopher.

The Wicker Man was Hardy's feature debut, and he went on to direct only two more feature-length films. The second, The Fantasist, came 13 years after his debut.

Had no idea about The Wicker Tree! And its at vudu.com.

Gene's portrayal of Wonka is just one of the greatest movie characters ever put to screen. So sad to see talent like that go. I'll be watching Haunted Honeymoon in your honor, sir.

Indeed, Gene WAS Willy Wonka. One of the greatest film performances of all-time. Not to mention a fantastic vocal performance for the film soundtrack: Pure Imagination.

Decades ago, I worked at a Baltimore cable channel and we would occasionally have celebs (minor and not so minor) come in to film short PSA's for various causes. Tracy Gold, who played Alan Thicke's daughter on Growing Pains, came in to shoot one and was asked about the cast of the show and what they were like. She spoke very politely about all of her co-stars, but she spoke in the most warm and glowing tones about Alan Thicke. She basically said you could not find a nicer man if you tried. That was sweet, I think.

And if you are interested, Tracy Gold was an absolute sweetheart herself.

I'm mostly curious about Kirk Cameron.
