Repo'd 11-14-2015 04:31 AM

Martha, I love Kingdom of the Spiders! Wicked and very unexpected pick.

Martha 11-14-2015 04:54 AM

Oh I just love Kingdom Of The Spiders.

Those creepy, crawly, hairy things!

Eeek!

Oh My!

Repo'd 11-14-2015 05:16 AM

Me too! I liked it so much I brought it to our 70's list for HDC 100 Years of Horror. Especially loved the shot of the whole town covered in webs.

First part, yes (or more specifically 'Sequels that didn't suck). The second however, the next two (and maybe the third, idk, haven't thought that far ahead yet) are made after 2000.

Morningriser 11-15-2015 06:51 AM

Jason Goes To Hell was made in the early 90s though.

It is your turn now by the way Roi

That's random. I picked Jason Takes Manhattan.

Well, you know what they say, 'if you can make it in Manhattan...

Repo'd 11-15-2015 03:24 PM

Roi, you have somehow managed to pick my least favorite Friday 13th film AND my least favorite Halloween film.::big grin::

Can't wait to see what you pick next, amiga!

Morningriser 11-15-2015 03:50 PM

I love Jason Takes Manhattan, but Resurrection had no point whatsoever.

Roiffalo 11-15-2015 04:17 PM

I like sequels no one else seems too. Anyone getting the theme yet? ::big grin::

I just had an epiphany. John Hough, Howling IV director is the same John Hough who directed Legend of Hell House, and Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. Love those movies, so now I'm even more primed to watch the flick.

I really don't know how my mind can miss shit like this. John F'n Hough.

- Howling IV: The Original Nightmare (1988) John Hough
- Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) Rob Hedden
- Halloween: Resurrection (2002) Rick Rosenthal

The last 2 are "part 8". Not too many of those.

Is the theme Sequels?

Sequels is part of the theme, yes. It's actually one of two. I'm difficult, I'm sorry. ^^;

I'm clueless about that second theme. Nothing is jumping out at me. I'm not working with a theme, just picking movies I think everyone should love.

Not only am I watching Howling IV today, I'm about to watch it right NOW!
I was looking forward to it prior to the Hough realization, but now I'm amped up to see this sucka.

Repo'd 11-16-2015 04:38 AM

Watched and enjoyed Howling IV! First things first. The hair and the clothes!! Hahaha! Oh MY. Okay, got that out of the way.

I'll start with the negatives.
It may have just been the version I watched online, but the dialogue seemed 99 percent dubbed, and it was sloppily done. That annoyed me. The biggest negative for me was the performance by Michael T. Weiss as Richard, husband of Marie. Wooden and comatose are not moody and smoldering. Someone should tell Mr. Weiss that.
Also, the music? Ugh.

The positives.
Very nice work by the lead, Romy Windsor, Her character, along with most of the side characters, was believable and I felt pretty shitty for her, considering all she had to endure. The direction was a bit uneven, which, though I love a few of Hough's films, isnt a massive surprise when taking into account his entire body of work. Still, it was not unimpressive at times.
On to the big transformation sequence. INSANE! It looked painful, like some awful oozy rebirth, It had me scrambling to see who did the FX. Loved it, and if this title comes up in conversation, that scene will be the first thing I think of. I thought the Lycan design was unique, especially the appearance and shape of the head and face.

I'd say overall, it was a fun morning watch! I can understand any uber-wolfie fan having a soft spot for this film. Thanks for the rec, Roi.

Re: Michael T. Weiss - you notice he hasn't done any acting for a very long time? He may be easy on the eyes, but he's a terrible actor!

roshiq 11-16-2015 06:46 AM

Please update my 3rd entry.

Morningriser 11-16-2015 07:13 AM

I already did rosh. I just got on a few minutes ago...

Yeah, Hammer, he's dreadful. He was so bad it started to be fun to watch him.

Morningriser 11-16-2015 10:15 AM

Martha, I asked hammer to delete your post in the draft thread. You PMed me and asked when you could make up this round and I said after round 10 and you even said ok. This game is really not hard to follow.

Morningriser 11-16-2015 12:16 PM

ok hammer you're up to the plate.

DeadbeatAtDawn 11-16-2015 12:16 PM

Thanks morningriser for waiting patiently for me. My turn always comes up when I am at work. ::roll eyes::

Yeah I posted that in the rules. Don't worry Woodsy darling, I think this will be a regular thing here and everyone will get the hang of it eventually.

Rules For Drafting[/CENTER]

- Once the last player has selected their movie it will end the round and that same player will select again for the next round and the drafting order will go in reverse from the previous round. For example, the player who chooses first in round 1 will choose last in round 2 but then choose first in round 3.

- Each player will be given 12 hours to make their choice once it is their turn. If you miss your turn you will be skipped. If you miss 3 turns you will be removed from the game.

- If you are the last to choose in a round you will still be given 12 hours for each round. If you miss the first round you will then be given the 12 hours for the next round but may only choose for the current round.

- For anyone who misses round you may make up the rounds you missed after round 10 of drafting in the order in which you missed.
