Really looking foraward to this new project, sounds very intriguing...

Sorry 'bout that! :o

I've been around, just CRAZY busy prepping the second series, making plans, and all kinds of other drama. :D

If a RHEE preview image isn't posted in this forum in a week post and remind me, OK? :p

Aaron Weisbrod 02-26-2006 06:00 AM

Check one for the bad guys, please.

I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I'm glad you thought it was sad! :p

I was really nervous about this story -- whether or not people would be "bummed" that there was no proper monster or supernatural element in it... but to me, that's what makes it all the more horrifying!

Glad ya' dug it. NIGHTMARE WORLD #37 deals with a completely different kind of religious fanaticism... and #38 is a real werewolf one... although not at all in the way you might expect! ;)

(And no, I didn't ruin anything by telling you that. TRUST ME... :D )

novakru 02-26-2006 02:13 PM

Good to see you still around here.
I am keeping up with the Nightmare series and as aways-very impressed.

Yeah, it was an excellent story. For what it's worth, I'd like to see you guys do some more "realistic" stories. I love the supernatural elements as well, but this is something new. As always, best of luck to you.

Aaron Weisbrod 02-28-2006 02:53 PM

Never repeat...

Thanks!

Yeah... we make it a point to NEVER repeat ourselves, and that's going to be more evident than ever in the coming months... :D

Oh, we have SUCH sights to show you!

The_Return 03-03-2006 07:05 PM

I must say, Preys be the Lured has one of the best covers Ive seen in a long while. Nice job!

The_Return 03-13-2006 03:43 PM

Pssst...

You said to remind you if you didn't post a preview of Mr. Rhee. I saw in n the site and it looks AMAZING, but I figured I still aughta remind you:)

HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF

You guys are silly... but not as silly as THIS:

http://www.nightmareworld.com/Images...-hungry-00.jpg

You can read the story at www.NightmareWorld.com, of course!

Let me know what you think, ya'll!

Thanks for the support! Sorry I've been so busy! :o

(By the way -- if anyone knows how to get ahold of the ADMINISTRATOR of these forums, could they please PM me the details? Thanks!)

The_Return 05-09-2006 11:28 AM

Hungry Like the Wolf was a great story, I really enjoyed it.

The_Return 06-01-2006 05:10 PM

No update this week?:(

The_Return 06-07-2006 05:28 PM

Wow!

Im lovin' the new site layout! Looks great, but I'd sure like to see all the old issues back...

On top of that, the first page of Mr. Rhee looks really intriguing. Looks like more great work from the NW team...not that I was expecting anything less of course:D

Preacher 07-26-2006 04:21 AM

Ah... it's good to be back... not that I ever left, of course. ;)

Thank you guys for keeping the faith while I... attended to some things. :)

It is VERY appreciated "The Return" and "Preacher." Thank you, my friends.

We just finished the first chapter of TALES OF MR. RHEE over at www.NightmareWorld.com, as well as NIGHTAMRE WORLD #41: "A Therapy For Pain"... a story that should help those of you paying attention to help connect the dots concerning our grand backstory...

We also made a movie that might just help you in your quest to piece everything together... check it out:

http://www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p...edium=text_url

So... how's that for a dramatic re-entrance? :D

SINcerely,
Dirk Manning

The_Return 08-04-2006 10:20 AM

At this point, I actually think Im enjoying Mr. Rhee more than NW to be honest. Both are fantastic.

Im loving the evolving storyline...I have my theories, but Id rather keep them to myself for the time being;)

PS-

Im most excited to see how "No One Knows" fits in. Its been one of my favourite stories right from when I started reading NW. I have some ideas on how it might fir in, but Im sure yours are better so I'll keep mine to myself:p

PPS-

I really hope it doesnt fit in the obvious way (the whole thing is just episodes of the show). I must say...Id be disapointed.

PPPS -

Ya, I probably should have thought this post through more before I posted it in the first place. I just wanted to welcome you to HDC, Dirk! It was always nice to see Aaron around on occasion, hopefully you follow in his footsteps;)

Dirk Manning 08-05-2006 12:59 PM

Two sets of footprints becoming one...

It indeed seems to be Dirk Manning's lot in life to follow that other "Aaron" guy around everywhere cleaning-up his messes. :D

Rest assured, it is not going to turn-out that all of the stories are episodes of the show. God... that would be CHEAP... and Dirk Manning doesn't do cheap. :p

As for how NO ONE KNOWS fits in... I assure you... it's a doozy.

We've had some doozies on the theories... feel free to post 'em at the official Message Board if you wish. ;)

We are all lovin' TALES OF MR. RHEE as well... and I assure you... the best os yet to come. Wait until you see the "splash" (heh) Josh Ross drew for Chapter 4... ;)

I'll be around more often... fear not.

Wait... or should that make you all MORE afraid?!?

SINcerely,
Dirk Manning

Hadn't been to check out the NW site all summer.
It's still high artistic quality as usual.

Mr.Rhee looks stellar.:)

Yo.....

The_Return 09-08-2006 04:59 PM

Dude, I have to say...I love the clever little in-jokes in mostof the stories, but man...

AmericanManiac 10-14-2006 09:36 AM

To be honest with you I have never read a comic book, but I am thinking about getting a few Horror ones. Any suggestions ?

The_Return 11-28-2006 04:36 PM

I must admit that I let myself get a little behind on reading NW in the past little while, but I just got all caught up and let me tell you...Im still as impressed as ever.

The last page of "My Own Prison" is probably the most powerful thing that Ive read on the site. Mr. Rhee is shaping up to be pretty damn good IMO.

There are some inexpensive reprints of old 1960s Ec Comics, like The Haunt of Fear & Tales From the Crypt

Also the original 30 Days of Night trade paperback (a compendium of the first story arc in this ever-expanding franchise) is a great place to start

Despare 11-28-2006 08:48 PM

Just read my first couple of this series, Violet and Life In a Glass House... cool stuff. Good job.

The_Return 02-28-2007 11:52 AM

Man, Im loving the way everything is falling together. "In the Meantime" was just flat-out mindblowing!

Dirk Manning 07-31-2007 08:55 PM

Oh, how time flies when things get messy...

Well... while I certainly can't speak for Aaron... *ahem*

Dirk Manning is back!!!

www.NightmareWorld.com ran into some webhosting problems a while back that took us off-line for a few months... but we're back in effect, ya'll... and I don't want any of you to think I forgot about my old school peeps here.

I'm not afraid to say this... *sniff*... I missed you guys!

A lot has been shakin' with NIGHTMARE WORLD since my last appearance here, including a new publishing deal with APE COMICS and... wait for it... a BRAND NEW GRAPHIC NOVEL THAT'S SET TO BE RELEASED ON HALLOWEEN DAY!!!

It's late, and I'm tired, but here's some details... as well as a peek at the cover... be sure to let me know what you think!

***

NIGHTMARE WORLD Volume 1: "The Long Hard Road Out of Hell" is now available for pre-order in PREVIEWS.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...erFINALweb.gif

The book is 144 booty-whuppin' pages and contains 13 NIGHTMARE WORLD stories (a majority of which have never been in print ANYWHERE), an introduction by Rex Mundi scribe Arvid Nelson, over 13 new never-before-seen-full color illustrations that introduce and "frame" the narrative of the stories and a massive sketchbook section (including character designs, script samples and more)... all topped-off with a gorgeous cover by Kristen Perry... and all for $19.95.

That's a helluva lot of horror goodness for less than a twenty-dollar bill, folks.

The book will is scheduled to be on shelves nationwide Halloween Day... BUT ONLY IF WE GET ENOUGHT PRE-ORDERS.

Remember, folks, I'm not working for Marvel or DC, and that means that MOST STORES WILL ONLY STOCK THIS BOOK IS YOU PRE-ORDER IT FROM THEM. That doesn't mean you'll have to pay for it upfront -- you won't have to do that until the book comes in -- but we need to hit a certain pre-order minimum in order to ensure my publisher that we can send the book to press.

After all, printing full-color graphic novels ain't exactly cheap, you know?

So -- that's where things stand now. Contact your local comicbook shop and ask them to PRE-ORDER you a copy of NIGHTMARE WORLD Volume 1. It's on Page 230 of PREVIEWS and the ORDER CODE is AUG07-3372.

To say I've poured my life and soul into this book -- especially considering everything that's been going on behind the scenes in my life this past year -- would be an understatement... so I'm now putting everything in all of your capable hands...

If this book is successful we can move forward with more volumes... hopefully eventually completing the whole 52 story sage in four neat graphic novels... let's make that happen.

Onwards. ONWARDS!!!

SINcerely,
Dirk Manning
