Roderick Usher, Crabapple, Neverending etc. are some of the esteemed members who have scored big in their respective fields, and have earned their names for what they are today.

The HDC Special Jury Award is a much-coveted Award for the members, since it recognises and honors their true talents. This year, we stand up and salute the wonderful artists who have thrived to HDC over the years but haven't got much recognition for their fantastic artistic talents.

We have 3 wonderful members who are really amazing talents with their hands - be it brushes, acrylic, oil, canvas, sculpting, comic art or computer graphics.

I request all of you to stand up and applaud for...

Great person, wonderful contributing member, a friend of friends, a great student and movie geek alike, but above all...

A REALLY FANTASTIC ARTIST...

THANK YOU!!! That little guy makes me giggle every time I see it - He's totally my desktop right now.

Also sorry for tuning in so late, but my boyfriend and I are TOTALLY digging your station.

He just lit up with the Godzilla music. :D

These are the people who shaped HDC into what it is today. The site was opened in 1994 but we had the forums online by 2003. Seven years have passed since, and they molded, shaped and turned this place into the fantastic destination of all horror fans from around the world.

Zwoti, Rayne, Urge and Newb are its very special members. Tonight, we induct another wonderful member who has kept this forum going with his incredible witticisms and talents. He has stopped posting actively for awhile, except for the tournaments and the Last Seen Movie threads. He was a cheerful poster in the Football World Cup 2010 thread, but has since gone back into his shell.

Very sparingly online these days, his home was wrecked by Hurricane Katrina which hit New Orleans last year. He has since gone through several life-bending events which is shaping his life into a real struggle, and I hope he comes out for the better.

Immensely loaded with courage, and an ardent fan of horror movies, and a very dear personal friend of mine...

Ladies and gentlemen...

All of you know him as the lover of Clint Eastwood films...

Please all rise, and applaud for...

Oh, ok - I was picturing the part with him at the table when they put the meat hammer in his hand...

I'd imagine it's probably something similar in the second film...

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear friends...

It's been a special honor and a big privilege to be elected as HDC President last year and lead you onward into 2010. For this sixth year of my tenure in here, I have seen this place go through several turbulent and cheerful periods alike. Thank you for supporting every innovation, idea and crazy concoction I threw your way and making it a grand success. Honestly, I feel overwhelmed every time I think of all the support and dedication you have given to me and have stood by me through thick and thin.

But, we are into the last day of 2010. Tomorrow, we shall enter 2011. And honestly, the state of affairs HDC finds itself in today is slightly appaling and alarming. And as every leader in history, I take the blame for it. Maybe it's time for new ideas, fresh innovations and new members to come to the fore and take the baton from people like us and modernise HDC and shape it into their vision.

Don't feel alarmed, my friends. Change is inevitable. I was new once myself, and I did my part too. So, with time, I must also gracefully step aside and let others come forward and manage the role I have been doing all this time.

My tournaments draw to a close slowly, and after tonight I will be shifting my computer to my new home. It is a fitting moment for me to step down as HDC President and give you a new President for 2011...

Before I do that, I apologise for not conducting this through votes and an election, like last year. I was afraid that all of you might re-elect me again, there's no doubting your love for me. I will be around, don't worry.

So, with your collective permission for this year at least, I would like to nominate your new HDC President for 2011...

It will be...

DOC FAUSTUS

I really hope Doc accepts, and leads you into a fantastic New Year. May he bring in some fresh traffic (and make some old members return), and we have a thriving and bustling HDC yet again.

Ladies and gentlemen...

Your New President -

Thank you. :)

newb 12-30-2010 07:38 PM

President Doc

got a nice ring to it

Despare 12-30-2010 07:42 PM

A little off topic (as it's Doc and not Dr.) but if you're a Dr. and a President, which prefix comes first? Dr. President Faustus or President Dr. Faustus. Heh, if you're a resident could you be Resident Dr. President?

_____V_____ 12-30-2010 07:43 PM

Thank you, NE, for the fantastic commentary and the wonderful soundtracks you provided throughout the ceremony. You really are an inspiration, year in and year out, my friend! :)

Many thanks to everyone who joined me tonight throughout the event. Special thanks to NE, my sponsor, for being home tonight and we could do everything on schedule.

Congratulations to all the Award winners. And thank you to everyone who voted for me and made me a winner in a few of them.

Thanks, one and all, and good night. See you next year, hopefully!!!

Thank you, my dear friend. I would never refuse such an honor. Food for thought and warmth for my soul. I accept. May HDC flourish, grow and triumph over adversity! I shan't be such a stranger in 2011!

Congratulations to all the winners and commiserations to the non-winners (one of Pres Doc Faustus' new rules, there are no losers on HDC!). Well done V & NE for another superb awards night.

Is there going to be a pledge of allegiance or swearing in ceremony?
