Can you boot into Safe Mode and run your antivirus? Can that remove it? If not, try googling the exact name of the virus and see if there is manual removal instructions.

scarecrow666 08-20-2007 02:43 PM

What anti-virus software are you running?

Trojan downloaders are/can be real nasty pieces of shit.Make sure everything is updated and go into safe-mode. (keep pressing F8 after the 1st/2nd screen. (1st screen could be your graphics card info.) 2nd screen is where it tells you what your computer is i.e ram etc.) You should see another menu select Safe mode.

Sorry if you know it already as alot of people i find ...dont.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Dude...if you want it off your PC, bite the bullet and pay the 35 bucks to register your Spyware Doctor. Then run a scan, click "fix and continue" when it's done, and it'll remove the malware. How will you know it's been removed? When the program confirms it after doing it.

Just FYI, I'm not, like, a trolling Spyware Doctor programmer or anything. I've just been using it for a few years now and have yet to come across any kind of spyware/adware/malware/trojan/cws/BHO it can't remove -- including objects Adaware Personal and Spybot S&D, good as they are for no cost whatsoever, do not detect.

Besides, if you don't have a restore disk for your OS then it's a matter of simple mathematics: A hundred and fifty or so bucks for a new OS, a couple hundred for a professional to fix it, several hundred for a new PC -- or 35 bucks to unlock the program.

It ain't rocket science.

Disease 08-28-2007 02:30 AM

Any one had problems like this before? It's been happening for the last few days now. This sports forum i post on, well when ever i go to make a post, internet explorer has to close down. And if I try to start a new thread here the same thing, it also happens when I visit some other web pages.... what the fuck?

Any help out there?

Disease 08-28-2007 03:50 AM

well, I'm realy stuck, help!

Disease 08-29-2007 05:12 AM

Disease 08-29-2007 05:20 AM

Cheers, anyone else?

XtRaVa 08-29-2007 05:28 AM

I'm not in the mood to read through every thread, but I take it you have some spyware or something on your pc?

If your net is going really slow then you might have a trojan virus - which isnt good. Also your IE might be 'hi-jacked'.

The best course of action is to do a full virus scan. Use whatever virus scanner you have, or download AVG (its free) and do a full scan with that.

Then (if you dont already have it) download Windows Defender (its free). It's an anti-spyware prog etc. Do a full scan with that.

After you've done both of those things, let us know if it found viruses and spyware etc and make sure its all cured. If you still have problems after that we can move onto some new ideas.

Disease 08-29-2007 05:33 AM

Yeah, already done defender, not AVG, but I have tried a heap of others, it's just that it keeps shutting down the page on certain sites, or say I went to start a new thread here it would shut the page down.

Do you know any programs for fixing internet explorer that are free or programs to get rid of trojan viruses that work realy good and are totally free?

Disease 08-29-2007 05:33 AM

what do you mean my IE may have been hijacked?

XtRaVa 08-29-2007 05:50 AM

Install Mozilla and start surfing the web. Try the things that made it close before and see if it still does it. If it doesnt we know its probably a problem with your IE.

Disease 08-29-2007 06:00 AM

But what kind of problem and what do you mean by hijacked?

XtRaVa 08-29-2007 06:16 AM

Look it up on google. It's just basically a 'virus' which can bugger up your internet explorer by simply going to a certain webpage.

Anyway, try Mozilla like I said and see if the same problem occurs - I doubt it.

Reformatted the pc...I never remember to do one thing, write down what makes the sound work...
So, I'm here, without sound.

How do I determine what I need, and install it?

It could be a problem with your sound card or driver:

This may help: (based upon Win XP)

Left Click on Start, left click Control Panel, left click on Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices. This should tell you your make of sound card.

or alternatively

Go to desktop, Right Click on My Computer. Left Click on Properties. Another screen should appear - Left click on the Hardware box. Another screen should appear - Left click on Device Manager box. A tree structure should appear with various names each with a '+' or '-' next to it.

Look for Sound, video and game controllers. If you Left click on the '+' next to it, another list should appear - (audio) drivers. If there's an exclamation mark next to any, then there is a problem.

It may be a simple case of downloading and installing a new driver.

Try searching for soundcard on google or http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/

Phalanx 09-11-2007 04:27 AM

Got xp...but still even following your instructions, I am not really getting anywhere.
No sound device is indicated..."No audio device", but, it's always had sound before...I dunno if I got a soundcard specifically or it was onboard or somethin'

Phalanx 09-11-2007 04:44 AM

Also, it's not picking up my additional HD...
