I do think having some Tae Kwon Do training is better than none but i do question how useful it is in a real fight with out pads/ref/people able to grab you etc etc.

It's taught as self defense not a sparring tournament and you are facing people with probably no self defense except fighting in numbers or holding guns and knives.. Exactly there is no ref, this is life and death. I would still help the woman, and then call the police. Hopefully they would come soon. But judging by the police you never know.

I'm sure part of it is but not against fully resisting partners. That why someone with 6 months of boxing training (or Wrestling) would destroy some one with 6 month of Tae Kwon Do/Most Karate/Kung Fu etc.

Yeah, I know. But I don't think I would be fighting boxers. Otherwise one of them could probably beat up that guy. Not to mention my brother did teach me things from when he was in the marines. I'm not trying to say im the ultimate fighter, im not by any means. I was just saying one of the reasons why I would be doing this because I knew those things and im not totally frail. So I could definitely put up a fight. What would you do, honestly? If you knew those people?

I think someone who is trained, big and able to put up a fight should try to save the girl.

I don't think I'd fancy fighting 2 guys at once unless I got some indication that I had the edge (but that being said some one being young or small isn't always agood indication of how they can fight)..

Thing is if u did end up beating the 2 guys you'd prolly get arrested and charged for assault.

Well it is better to save one, rather then letting both die. I rethought it and I would just help the girl. If you help the man and die, you would be letting them both die. So I would do that I guess. It's still a horrible situation though.

Then the police are completely useless. Charging someone for assault and battery for saving someone from getting beaten and raped? That's complete bullshit and makes no sense. Do you honestly think that they would put you in jail for fighting off two thugs beating/raping this girl? I don't think so. Unless the cops are complete fucking idiots. I would call the cops too and hopefully they wouldn't press charges, like I said before and then go after the people beating up the woman. There would probably be a bat or someting atleast to help you if you didn't feel like you had the edge. I guess V could say what size they are. So you could weigh the options in full. Still, I think I can take two people, im completely capable and I know how to fight and i'm a big guy.

I'm a big(ish) guy too about 210 and 6'2" - i know a lot off ppl way smaller than me that i couldn't take.....so i won't trust size too much.

I do think martial arts training can help but i think it can give people a false sense of security..

you are 100% right with that. when people are saying they feel confident fighting 2 people in the street, there is a serious false sense of security going on.

the cops don't make the rules. They just enforce them. It's the legal system that's useless.

They don't make the rules but they do choose how to interpetate them alot of the time. I've met a few cops over the years that should not be doing the job that theyare doing.

I really feel this about people teaching self defense to women - they just take their money and show them a few 'knee in the balls' techniques and they think they are totally bad ass and can kick any bloke's ass.

In the situation described - I presume the 2 guys are kinds preoccupied so i recon you have one sucker punch (or sucker kick for the Tae Kwon do guys).

I think this might level the playing field - one free shot - possibley from behind - then I think that might make it a 1v1 situation if u can KO with one shot. And if its a sucker punch then its a lot easier....

So i stand corrected - I might feel easier if i got one free puncho or kick.

If I was thinking clearly, I would attempt to distract them in some way, since I am pretty damn sure I couldn't hurt them (at least not much).
