For its time, it did. It still is not available in the UK uncut (around 40 seconds of gore cut out & some zoomed in camera angles at other parts).

Many others are now available uncut (The Exorcist, Driller Killer and Last House On The Left).

In the UK Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter was cut until 4-5 years ago.

I was a teenager around the time that VHS was just starting out. Until that point the only horror and violence I had ever seen was that of Hammer House Of Horror (which I still enjoy), but that compared to: Superstition (AKA The Witch), I spit On Your Grave, Cannibal Ferox, Zombie Flesh Eaters, Evil Dead ETC.

Maybe thats why the music volume varies and music is now in sync with the movie as now what was shocking and unbelievable now is just something so ordinary and almost scoffed at.

Basically, one of the rapists was castrated with a knife and locked in the bathroom to bleed to death.

The Last House on the Left is not available uncut in the UK, including Anchor Bay's recent releases and including their Krug & Company version.

The kid with the glasses was the best " Your ruining my consentration"

I have that film (vhs) The bathroom part was stupid. how can it feel good getting your dick cut off. It looked like thew guy was getting off :D I know alot of woman hates this film they hate the rape part, but they like the penis slice. :D

Nasty, gratitious and exploitative. I loved it. A fine example of 70s US cinema. As I've said before theres some great gritty flicks from this period. "Neo-trash-realism" as I like to call it. This stuff pushed boundaries and unsettled a large amount of the movie watching public.

Last House On The Left is better in my opinion but I Spit On Your Grave is still an important part of the genre. Its good to see both being released uncut everywhere for the first time in ages. I remember when you had to rely on bootlegs for a decent cut of the film.

PR3SSUR3 05-16-2006 02:55 AM

Neither film is now available uncut in the UK, and The Last House on the Left was incomplete when first released before the VRA bannings.

Last House on the Left & I Spit on Your Grave...

Although their basic premise not being horror, they are usually included in the genre cuz of the graphic scenes...

Comparatively, LHotH was a lot more graphic than ISoyG, although the deaths in ISoyG are excellent to watch. I loved the kid with the glasses getting seduced into the noose, and the guy getting his balls cut off and left to bleed to death.

LHotH on the other hand, showed a more extreme view of the rapes itself, though I thought the gurls could have escaped easily on two or more occasions. But overall it was slow, at least when compared to ISoyG, but it had more crazy moments than ISoyG.

Put to a choice, I would prefer ISoyG, simply cuz of the bathroom death...(YEOWCH!)

How many of us clutched our balls when we saw that for the 1st time eh?

Umbrella Entertainment have brought out a uncut version of Last House On The Left. There an Austrailan based company that have been releasing a bunch of uncut video nasties on DVD.

Yes, Umbrella have been releasing a number of uncut nasties, including quite a few that were previously banned in Australia (eg Last House, The Hills Have Eyes, Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror). Australia seems to have a history of being a bit heavy on the ban button, but the local censors' balls seem to be finally dropping with the unbanning of Cannibal Holocaust, Last House on the Left, and a few others. Still can't have Baise Moi, the Guinea Pig films, August Underground, Salo, and a host of others, though.

Umbrella also do a lot of other horror movies of a less extreme nature, including a number of old Amicus films (eg Dr Terror's House of Horrors, The House that Dripped Blood, etc), some other British horrors (incl. Blood on Satan's Claw, the Asphyx, and others), and many other fine films.

I really wanna check out Cannibal Halocaust but haven't had any luck finding a copy over here. Same deal with Baise Moi and the Guinea Pig films (which I'm bummed about after reading a great article in Ultra Violence about those films). I've tracked down a copy of Salo so when it arrives I'll be able to burn you a copy if you've still had no luck finding it.

Mighty decent of you to offer :D Are you in Australia?

The reason I ask is that I don't have a problem tracking these films down on overseas sites, but I am worried about getting them past our Customs. Last thing I need would be a criminal charge for importing a banned film

Anyway, PM me if you want to discuss further...

According to the docs I saw, actress Camille Keaton was fine with the things she had to do. The 4 male actors were the ones who were extremely uncomfortable. I think one of them even broke down crying.

The person who wrote this movie should be put in jail for showing a women being raped and showing the characters have no remorse. If you are thinking of watching this movie. Save yourself and rent something else.

If you have seen this movie and liked it. I would like you to tell me why. If you didn't do the same.
If you have never seen this movie it is about a women who is raped several times by perverse red necks and it doesn't hesitate to show women being tortured. That is the whole movie one woman being tortured.

Other than the rough cut quality of this film, I thought it was good(and honest). To show rape as a very brutal, out in the open scene, rather than dark murky shots of her screaming face was way more open about the subject. And I thought the aftermath was a sort of female Death Wish apocolyptic ending. Other than the cheese(and the guy in the Gilligan hat), this is one of the best of 70s Grinders.

Just watched this last night. I was expecting it to disappoint in terms of shock value for some reason...but it was actually as shocking (Maybe even more) than it was hyped up to be. I got freaked out at the part where she was going to dial 911 and then the hooligans showed up again. I just wasn't expecting them to come back for even more. Definitely enjoyed the movie.
