my idol in college, allow me to remove the 'L' from his last name though, good Dr.! ;)

damn.. what if heaney wrote an epic series of zombie sonnets..!

his 'station island' is also remarkable, a pilgrimage he makes to an island in the middle of a lake, where he meets the ghost of james joyce at the very end. it's raining (of course), but the rain arcs away from joyce's shoulders before it touches him. awesome! :D

dude i've been wanting to read that but i havent got a chance do you know where i could get it

predfan 01-28-2004 03:49 PM

how bout evil brownies i think theyre called redcaps, i guess itd be similar to the leprechaun but ... different
hydras would be nice
hippogriffs would be great for a really cheesy horror movie, im not sure if these are mytholigcal or just fantasy
and lets not forget dragons
giants
and six-armed statues of doom
and nagas

otis 01-28-2004 04:58 PM

gremlins was done, they fall into this category right. They could make a better one, i like the ones they have, but a more horror film would be cool.

THe mexican goat eating thing, el chica-something, is a cool animal, but i don't know how that would work as a movie.

Vodstok 01-28-2004 05:13 PM

el chupacabra? (goat sucker)

That has grade b movie written ALLLL over it.

otis 01-28-2004 05:17 PM

explain, i just don't think it would work because goat sucker(sorry i really can't spell or remember how to spell his name) hasn't killed any humans yet, and maybe it would work. Tell me your thoughts.

How about pygmy men? you know that tribe in the amazon or something.

Vodstok 01-28-2004 05:32 PM

Bats have never killed anyone but thta didnt stop them from making a movie about it.

Pygmies would make an awesome movie though.

avenger00soul 01-28-2004 05:37 PM

As well as an X-Files episode

Vodstok 01-28-2004 05:52 PM

That was acool episode, although it was typical of x-files reaching to draw a parallel between real life legends and their ideas.

Just like the moth man and jersey devil episodes, which were good, but had jack-shit to do with their original legends.

you serious mythman84? i think you're having a laugh at me, i mean, NO ONE LIKES POETRY ;)

you can read more about 'station island' here

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/se...317087-2703814

some of it's tough, to be sure. i'd imagine the dr. k-recommended 'beowulf' translation is even thicker though!

never thought i'd be talking poetry on a horror board, a welcome first for me :)
