Do you have to go get a hug from your mom when you watch those scary movies you like so much?

Dream Warrior 02-06-2010 12:47 PM

The first horror movie you ever watched?

The first horror movie i ever watched was A nightmare on elm street. My aunty had it on tape and i used to beg her every time i went round to watch it, she finally give in when i was around 9 years old and bunking off school ( as she had a soft spot for me, and to this day still does 13 years later ) I loved this movie so much the scene with Jonny Depp being swalloed by his own bed was my favorite and the blood splashing around the room. The first kill was great to. Ever since then ive been addicted to horror movies, i have a great collection that are my pride and joy ( pre-cet being the most tresaured )

So what was the first horror movie you ever watched and how did it effect you?

ToxicAvenger 02-07-2010 09:45 PM

that Jonny Depp scene is so sweet! my first was probly the original Halloween... such a classic. i loved halloween because michale myers always walked and ALWAYS ended up catching his prey! the part when lori strode is sitting in her closet and michale comes through the door always stuck with me

siorai 02-08-2010 08:19 AM

The earliest one that I can remember would be Evil Dead. I was 8 or 9 years old, home alone during a horrendous thunderstorm, late at night watching Evil Dead. Yeah, I had nightmares after that. :p

trx1 02-08-2010 11:01 AM

creature from the black lagoon

Laura6 02-08-2010 11:09 AM

The Exorcist..I was about 8 or 9 and my brother made me go with him and his friends!! I was terrified!

Doctor Loomis 02-09-2010 11:09 AM

i saw IT when i was about 5 or 6

ManchestrMorgue 02-09-2010 11:23 AM

The first horror movie I ever watched was Octaman

TheShape78 02-13-2010 09:23 PM

Halloween. I was like 8 when I first saw it? Don't remember exactly, haha.

Razorghost 02-13-2010 10:35 PM

I'm not sure what the 1st horror movie I watched is I'd have to really think for that but for sure the 1st ever horror movie I owned was Night of the living dead on VHS got it at a Woolco way back when, I remember begging my mom to buy it for me and she did. The 60's version too.

After that I went on to collect hundreds of VHS horror movies and still collect horror movie dvd's to this day.

The Money 02-14-2010 08:54 AM

Halloween was my first. A true classic

fuglystick 02-14-2010 09:02 AM

I don't know the name of it, but when I was about five years old there was a black and white horror film on TV that had giant spiders in it. It was some cheesy 50's film I'm sure, but it was convincing enough for a five year old to give me the creeps for a long time.

Elvis_Christ 02-14-2010 02:53 PM

Think I've already posted in here but Fright Night or Friday The 13th popped my horror cherrie.

orangestar 02-15-2010 09:56 PM

I think it was Pet Sematary around the age of 10. The book was scarier, but the movie will always hold a special place in my heart.

I think I mentioned this on here before -- or was it another forum, I don't remember -- there was talk about remaking "Pet Sematary" to be more like the book than the original movie was.

Mordum 02-16-2010 03:21 AM

my firs horror

Pet sematary, was 10 years old, and was afraid to go to sleep for about 1 month:P

Scarebaby 02-16-2010 03:31 AM

First ever was Night of the Living Dead when I was 8 years old (thank you, dad) but the ones that got me into horror films on an entirely different level were Blood for Dracula, Street Trash and Bad Taste, when I was about 14 years old.

fortunato 02-16-2010 09:17 PM

Ugh, seriously?

Scarebaby 02-16-2010 09:20 PM

Isn't there already a thread like this?

SodaGirl 02-19-2010 11:09 PM

My 3 earliest horror movie memories are the original House on Haunted Hill, Amityville 3D, and Child's Play. I can't seem to remember the order though.

iSeymore 03-03-2010 09:17 PM

The 6th Sense. I was probably 8 or 9 years old at the time, I remember it was when I was in grade 3 in elementary school and my parents went out on a date and I got stuck with a lame babysitter, she rented us a movie and ordered us a pizza and we watched this movie, couldn't sleep right for months! I was so scared!

Putoems 03-07-2010 09:36 AM

Nightmare on elm street, was 5 years old, saw the pub on the tv and asked my mom if i could see it... After the 1000th time, there i was after hours seeing with her eheh

psycho d 03-09-2010 04:13 AM

Not sure if memory serves me correctly, but the first one i remember scaring me was The Little Shop of Horrors (1960).

iSeymore 03-16-2010 06:35 AM

First couple of Horror movies that I actually sat up and watched were pretty much all Franchise horror flicks.

1) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) - I thought it was a pretty kick-ass horror film, I was only young when I watched it though.

2) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) - Was also young when I watched it, but it scared me a whole lot more than the Friday the 13th movies did at the time.

3) Freddy Vs. Jason (2003) - Yes, I was twelve years old when this movie was released in theaters, Couldn't watch it until it was released on DVD though due to my age, loved it nonetheless and it was my entrance movie into the Friday the 13th franchise.

horrorman 03-16-2010 07:39 AM

I think it was John Carpenter's "Christine", decent film, though book is much better, but movie never scared me. I also watched "the Unnamable" and the first part of "the Howling V" around the same time, but I prefer "Christine."

A Nightmare on Elm Street. My older sister and her friend rented it when it first came out on VHS. Scared the hell out of me.

scouse mac 03-19-2010 01:46 PM

A Hammer horror, impossible to remember which one exactly but pretty sure it was a Christopher Lee Dracula

Devastating 03-19-2010 04:52 PM

Cant remember that far back..XD:D

Iam pretty sure the firt Horror movie I watched was The Thing(Kirt Russell);)

AmericanManiac 03-20-2010 01:21 PM

I remember this one well. I was six years old and my teenage sister was having a sleep over, I was told to leave them alone but you know how that goes. I snuck downstairs after the parents went to bed, and they were all watching "The Last House on The Left". Terrified me!
