So far, Resistance and MGS4 are the only two exclusive games I've seen/heard about that are any good.

And if I can get the game on 360, I will so I can get the GS points.

Makes sense.

The Mothman 07-21-2008 05:02 PM

you guys seen the gameplay trailers for RE5 yet?
honestly, it looks like some of the smoothest, slickest, most awesome gameplay i've ever seen.

anyone hear about that whole "Resident Evil 5 is racist because you only kill black people!"

......its set in Africa, for christ sake!

That game, and Resistance would be the only games I would buy a PS3 for. The question for me though, is are two games worth it? :(

Little Big Planet is coming too and while that still isn't enough for the system to be a worthy purchase for me (I loved the other MGS games but as I've gotten older I've realized that I just don't have time for those cut scenes...) it is a brilliantly innovative game.

Now I'm worried that playing all these games throughout the years where I've killed MILLIONS of white people have been training me to hate caucasians...

Yeah, I thought that was some bullshit...but...if you're killing these black people, who are in a country full of otherwise not-fucked-up black people, are you not, in fact, saving black people?

A RE game that takes place in Africa with only white folks in it. Wouldn't that be racism as well?

Nope. Not even if you made it an African killing them. Sorry, but the whole racism thing is backwards.

Assassins Creed.
long game, pretty fun, however wears thin after about 10-15 hours.
glad i played it though.
helped me break 8000 for a gamerscore.

Yea, like i've mentioned many times before. If you've played 1 mission, you've played them all. So i can easily understand your 10-15 hours.

But a beautiful, beautiful game nevertheless.

The Mothman 07-24-2008 05:32 PM

I spent about 3-4 hours grabbing the 100 flags from Kingdom, (which is enormous) until i got up to about the 86th flag and I realized i missed one somewhere along the way.
3-4 hours of my life wasted.

Freak 07-24-2008 06:22 PM

I need to get it again so I can finish it out and get the full 1000.The first time I played it I didn't bother with the flags.Nice job on passing 8000 though.

Angra 07-25-2008 01:56 AM

Do you get a reward for passing 8000?

An extra weapon perhaps? Machine gun? :)

bwind22 07-25-2008 04:29 AM

The Sopranos PS2

Don't buy this game, just rent it. It took me 2 days to beat it and that was only playing occasionally.

Before that, Reservoir Dogs PS2. Very cool game.

jugchord 07-25-2008 02:07 PM

Manhunt II

ChronoGrl 07-26-2008 03:24 PM

Just beat The Darkness. Pretty damn good game. Creepy at times and some amazing weapons and Darkness powers.

I was determined to beat it today... And I did. :)

VampiricClown 07-27-2008 02:05 PM

Half-Life 2

Phalanx 07-27-2008 04:43 PM

SOS - The Final Escape (aka disaster report)
Pretty decent for a game without any combat whatsoever.
Great idea for a game, slightly poor execution.
Storyline is ok.

I'd like to play the sequel (renamed RAW DANGER in the states), but, it never came out in the PAL format we use here at all, so, unless I was to import a usa ps2...annoying...

illdojo 07-27-2008 07:48 PM

Mario Kart....my whole licence is gold...even on the mirror tracks.

Congrats on that one man.I could make it past the 3rd level on normal. Not because it was to hard but becasue the gameplay was horrible.

Eh, it's not that bad. It reminds me of stuff like the original Medal Of Honor.

ChronoGrl 08-04-2008 06:53 PM

Just beat Condemned 2: Bloodshot. All in all, a pretty damn good game. Beautiful graphics, compelling story, some really creepy levels and enemies... My only problem: It honestly felt too short. :(

Go pick up the first one now.

Bloodshot just dropped to $17.99 for a used copy. I may pick it up my next trip.

Absolutely just did. :D Thank you very much, Amazon! ($12 used!)

I got mine for $15 used. Though after that copy of Gears Of War that I bought used, I tried to stop getting used games. The thing had some major scratches in it when I bought it, and I took it to the store, and had to argue with them that the scratches were there when I bought the thing!

I've had good luck with "previously played" so far... Hopefully it holds up. Hope they refunded you.

I LOVED episode 2's ending, and yes it's pretty short but it's intense and while Ep. 1 had an ending that left you excited about 2 but not really much else... Ep. 2's ending really digs into the story. Play through Portal first (super short but filled with dark humor and one of the best ending videos ever), it ties in a bit with 2 (and I'm assuming will be a MAJOR part of 3).

Not quite. Like Despare said, it is pretty short. Not as long as Half Life 2, but it is a little bit longer than Episode 1. A bit more interesting too.

VampiricClown 08-07-2008 05:47 PM

i could never grasp what exactly was happening in HL2...was there a huge time lapse between the first and second game? why are the combines out to get everybody? WHO are the combines? what happened between these two games?

HL2 takes place about twenty years after the first one. Did you beat HL1? Because defeating the Nihilanth supposedly caused portal storms on Earth which attracted the Combine who basically just conquer other planets and bleed them dry.

there's the problem. i got the the final boss in HL 1 but never got around to beating it. thanks for clearing that up for me.

about 20 years later? where did you find that out?
Gordon must be an old bastard!

i think it is more like 11 years later (alyx was a kid during the black mesa incident, but not a small one)

Gordon has been in a stasis, out of the loop so to speak. the world has gone one without him since he accpeted the gmans offer at the end of HL (assuming you chose not to leave the train ;))

How do I know? I was a staff writer for planet halflife for a while :)

thats gnarly that you know that. so can you tell if the rumor of "all these incidents are tests gman is putting Gordon through in preparation something much bigger" is true?

no clue. pretty sure ,most of the developers at Valve dont know either. the story seems very malleable, some things are set in stone, some are added after the fact.

Do this though, if you decide to play the original (or god forbid, black mesa source if they ever fucking finish it...), watch The Mist at some point and marvel at the similarities.

Despare 08-08-2008 08:22 PM

"Half-Life 2 begins an undisclosed number of years after this war, after the rule of the Combine has been firmly established. There is, however, some evidence from the Half-Life 2: Episode One official website indicating that Half-Life 2 takes place nearly two decades after the Black Mesa incident.[2] Such a time frame is logically consistent with the aging of the series' characters between Half-Life and Half-Life 2. It also explains why there are no children in the game, the Combine having set up a reproductive suppression field a short time after the war, preventing any further births."

The G-Man is really tough to read... the Vortigaunt's obviously (from their reaction to him in HL: E1) don't trust him. Not only that but he WAS the person who gave them the sample which caused the Black Mesa incident. I think it's his "employers" who really need to be worried about though.
