tenebrae was total shite. its just the mixture of english acting and dubbed italian acting coupled with tomato ketchup blood. underneith it there might be a good story. ditto for the hills have eyes re: the bad acting and ketchup blood

noobs...

They capitalized and extremely puncuated 'what' was a bit much and could be seen as getting 'shit'. However I guess I was being nit-picky I just think it is really ironic that people are over-reacting in a thread exactly what what some of these people are doing (although on a lesser degree at times). Your comment was the most non...'shit-giving' one and you did at least state a reason so I should have left yours out.

Also could you guys quit with the 'noob' crap. It is so played out. I hate to break it to you but 'noob's are no less entitled to an opinion nor are inferior to you.

I really don't much like Bruce Lee films either.

Platoon, just not all that great IMO...largely boring to me.

And a SHOW that a lot of people seem to like that I just find fucking unfunny and obnoxious, is "arrested development"

Akira was a let-down for me simply because it was in no way as great as the comics and was far too condensed and just strayed away from the original story which was much better.

I actually thought Arrested Development would be like you said unfunny and obnoxious but I actually liked it. Oh well doesn't matter now that it is cancelled.

pinkerton 02-23-2007 07:24 PM

I loved Arrested Development but most people find me unfunny and obnoxious.

swiss tony 02-24-2007 03:00 PM

whats so special about house of a thousand corpses? only one thing; the captain spaulding character.

AUSTIN316426808 02-24-2007 05:48 PM

The Godfather, Scarface...overrated and boring?

It's depressing even to just read that off a screen, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion, no matter how utterly wrong it maybe.(Calm ya nerves, that was a joke.)

I find Gone with the Wind to be a bit over hyped. I'm not even going to go into Lord of the Rings.

Well, The Godfather is #1 in my book and I don't find Scarface to be to long.

My book is just fine for me as I'm sure yours is for you, even if it does have crappy Peter Jackson movies in it.

Despare 02-25-2007 09:34 AM

I think that The Godfather is overrated as well, that's not to say I don't love the film. It's just always touted as being flawless, the perfect movie... and it's not.

Ripture 02-26-2007 05:05 AM

I've never liked The Godfather or Scarface(to be honest i dont like any mafia films) i'm not too keen on the "Scary Movie" films either

Doc Faustus 02-26-2007 11:18 AM

I'm with Austin on Gone With the Wind. Scarlett really pissed me off. I don't think she's nearly as endearing as film critics claim she is.

TheGoblinQueen 02-26-2007 02:20 PM

I didn't like Ghost Rider at all. I find it overhyped and the animation to lack in so many ways. >< Just a horrible movie all together.

I never considered him a great actor but he does manage to pull off a few good movies. It just seemed he had a bad scriped in his hands and the animation quality for a high budget film was not there at all... Plus the movie lacked what the graphic novel had. Atleast get characters correct.

Unaboner3000 02-26-2007 03:49 PM

Friday the 13th (all the films) are VASTLY overrated by many. Even the first film (certainly the best) was pretty mediocre.

illdojo 02-26-2007 04:27 PM

The Prestige - I just watched it a few days ago. It was very boring. :(

You are right on this one, Dave. The Descent was awful. Not awful in a Uwe Boll sort of way, but still bad. After such a great beginning it deteriorated into laughable absurdity when the monsters showed up, losing all the tension which had been built to that point. So glad I didn't end up blind buying this one.

AsylumSeeker 03-27-2007 10:32 PM

The ones I take the most guff for are Land of the Dead and Napoleon Dynamite. Land of the Dead was (forgive me George) ridiculous IMO and I just wanted to smack Hopper. Napoleon Dynamite tried way too hard to be a Kevin Smith film.

swiss tony 03-28-2007 12:46 AM

its not a movie but that series 24 is fucking drawn out, lengthy and dull. watched the first ten episodes of series one on dvd cause i had heard so many good things. just couldn't get into it

I second that one! I was so pissed off when it ended...I'm really sick of movies that throw in a twist just for the sake of having a twist. A lot of screenwriters, directors, etc. seem to think that people will get off on a surprise ending even if it doesn't make any sense at all.

PR3SSUR3 04-08-2007 04:13 PM

Ring
Pulse/Kairo
A History of Violence

PR3SSUR3 04-08-2007 04:15 PM

Haute Tension only doesn't make any sense from a narrow perspective, and is audaciously brave and provocative from a more relaxed viewpoint.

The Ring & Ringu
The Ring 2 & Ringu 2
The Grudge & Ju-on
The Grudge 2 & Ju-on 2
The Thing (It wasn't terrible, just terribly over-rated.)
Eraserhead (This had to be one of the most godawful pieces of shit I've ever seen.)

Additionally, in general, I think most ghost movies suck. (But 1 that I did like a lot was The Frighteners.)

the frighteners it was ok
what about THE OTHERS that was good right (ghost story)

clock work orange i didn't like it either but maybe if i saw it in 1971 or when ever it was
jeepers creepers sucked
peter jacksons KING KONG DISAPOINTED MAYBE CAUSE THE STORY WAS SO OLD AND EVERONE KNOWS IT

HOUSE OF WAX the new one was a pile of shit about the size of a DVD case

_____V_____ 04-08-2007 10:36 PM

Many people rate it very highly but I was disappointed by The Grudge and The Ring. The original Jap ones were much better but the hollywood remakes sucked. I wonder how sucky the remake of Battle Royale is gonna be...

Kane_Hodder 04-09-2007 08:45 AM

The Shining would lead such a list, if I sat down to write it. Then there's the Child's Play films which didnt click with me. I did not particularly like the Hellraiser films either. Some of the recent slashers from the mid-90s onwards have been too over-rated and hyped, and have fallen flat on their faces.

Posher778 04-11-2007 02:30 PM

I don't get why people always hate on house of wax remake. if you look at it as it's own film, not a remake, it's fine. As far as modern slashers go, it was decent, good gore, pretty brutal, and experimental.

I hated 300.

Shady 04-11-2007 02:40 PM

One Word: Jaws

bloodrayne 04-11-2007 02:48 PM

Haha...I always get shit for the stuff I LIKE, not the stuff I hate

If I hate a movie, it's gotta be REALLY bad :D

28 Days Later didn't do too much for me either.

Posher778 04-11-2007 04:03 PM

I actually turned it off.

1st. i never saw the original. 2nd wax doesn't sizzle when you touch hot metal to it. 3rd wax that thin (the guy shaves it down you have to to get that good nipple detail that wax museums need when everything is covered in clothes)would fall off the shin as the body rots there is too much water in a body for it too work 4th i think this was supose to take place in florida i think a house of wax would melt in florida

i hear ya. every time i go into the last seen movie area i never give less than 7/10. i just always seem to get something out of everything. having said that i rarely give 9/10 and never 10/10. my only exception would be hoboken hollow, 3/10. i suppose some people will watch any old shite whereas i tend to stick with subject matter that i'm interested in.

Nikkif8 04-12-2007 08:36 AM

I didn't like The Exorcist either, I fell asleep the first time. But then I realized I had to give it props for being a great movie at the time it came out. badck then that was the scariest shit that had come out I guess.

I have never been a fan of Screams or anything that to me is artificial like that. Which includes Hostel, and any remakes like Black Water, The Grudge and crap like that. I get tons of grief for those.

I didn't really care for Clockwork Orange either or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas -tons of grief for those too.

Now a few movies I can't believe people don't like and I give grief about are:
Anchorman
Napolean Dynamite
Saw I and III
Haute Tension

Hmmm I know there is more...........
