Yes...you are correct, that is exactly where it is from!
As for skipping a movie for its font...not me, I never skip anything...I worked in a vid store for about 5 years in HS and junior college(87-92)...I've seen some crap...but I've seen many a movie that was awesome and I'd never have known anything about it. In the summertime, after closing, I'd grab movies to watch just because I hadn't seen them.

i love post self aware horror films....kevin williamson writes awsome scripts and i love asian horror too.......never thought anything was wrong with either....and wouldnt care if people thought there was....i love em so thats kinda all that matters

Stewie: How you uh, how you comin' on that novel you're working on? Huh? Gotta a big, uh, big stack of papers there? Gotta, gotta nice litte story you're working on there? Your big novel you've been working on for 3 years? Huh? Gotta, gotta compelling protaganist? Yeah? Gotta obstacle for him to overcome? Huh? Gotta story brewing there? Working on, working on that for quite some time? Huh? (voice getting higher pitched) Yea, talking about that 3 years ago. Been working on that the whole time? Nice little narrative? Beginning, middle, and end? Some friends become enemies, some enemies become friends? At the end your main character is richer from the experience? Yeah? Yeah? (voice returns to normal) No, no, you deserve some time off.

Guy on Airplane: Oh great, I always end up sitting next to a damn baby.
Stewie: What did you just say?
Lois: Stewie, stop fussing.
Stewie: Pipe down Lois. (Slaps guy on head.) Hey big man, turn around. Oh you can't hear me now. I was going to watch the movie, but forget it. For the next 5 hours, you're my bitch.

Exactly. Whenever I announce that I'm an avid Friday the 13th fan, people either frown or laugh at me. Fuck, that shit pisses me off. I suck all of it up, but it's getting harder to do. I'm really feeling guilty for being an 80's slasher fan.

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT PEOPLE HATE ME. :(

BlackSunProductions 12-25-2006 01:45 PM

It's all really just a matter of taste. After all one of my favorites is The Blair Witch Project even though I think it could've been done better. And despite what everyone else says about it, no one can contest the fact that the scene with the giggling child's hand being pressed into the side of the tent was genuinely creepy. In fact, this film is a large inspiration for my first feature-length film. I will say that Scream was Craven's last great feat as a horror director. I hated Cursed. However, as a thriller director (i.e. - Red Eye), I think he has a bright future.

Of course he should listen to us. People don't come here to post their own opinions of good horror. People join here to be smacked around by the heavy hitting elitist horror snobs like myself until they realize the wrong of their ways and conform to our opinions. We'll make the world right and purge you of your shitty tastes yet.

Take it easy, mate. You're a bit over paranoid about what others think of your taste in movies. There's nothing wrong with the F13th franchise. The first one is a classic, and the rest are good cheesy fun. I personally don't get down on many people for their tastes in movies. Might suggest people get a little more viewing experience in if their taste is really appalling, but at the end of the day it's your choice. Unless you like Boo. Then you're beyond all hope and I hate you.;)

LadyFrost 12-25-2006 06:04 PM

I'm guessing it isn't because of your taste in film

crabapple 12-26-2006 10:11 AM

Leatherface, you gotta relax. There's lotsa people that like 80's slasher movies. Heck, I watch those things from time to time, there's nothing quite like 'em. Besides that, if you are so concerned with people "likeing you," then why did you chainsaw massacre all those people in them movies huh, can you answer that for me? And don't say "I felt like it" because that's not real answer. You are maniac monster.

Tisha 01-02-2007 11:18 AM

There's nothing wrong about liking slasher movies. I like them too and judging from their success, so do many other people. Personally, I have been most terrified by The Amityville Horror (1979) and for this, I have been ridiculed too. I do not care what everyone else thinks of my taste in horror. If I love it, it's good enough for me. You should follow your instincts because we are not all alike. I think it's great that we don't like all the same stuff, because that would be a very boring world, indeed.

LadyFrost 01-02-2007 11:21 AM

it doesnt matter what you like as long as its horror thats what i say. i mean come on im terrified even to this day of House of on Haunted Hill....i cant even watch it anymore i get scared so much.

I just watched Thirteen Ghosts and well they scared me too, but i like that movie and i dont care what anyone else thinks of me because of this fact.

I'm really glad you're here. I totally disagree with your taste, but I love that you stand up for the teen cheesies. Good on you.

Now we just need to get you to see a few GOOD movies:D

LadyFrost 01-02-2007 04:13 PM

You may all Hail me as the Queen of Teen Cheesie's lol i love my teeny bopper horror im afraid...but please do inlighten me on what a real horror flick should be.

And dont worry im not going anywhere...i like this forum too much. I like what i like and nobody can say anything that will make me change my mind.

waxonwaxoff 01-02-2007 04:18 PM

i have loved horror movies for years since i first saw the exorcist... the scared the living crap out of me....

now the more gore and blood the better for me..

i have not seen a really good scary horror film in a long time, but i thought the hills have eyes was a really good remake and am looking forward to seeing
no 2

and woot to you frost

LadyFrost 01-02-2007 04:21 PM

W00t right back at ya waxonwaxoff...and dont get me started on "The Hills Have Eyes" to this day i have not seen the end of that movie, i had to work out of my living room and hide under my bed because of that film, i nearly threw up the bottle of cola and bowl of popcorn i had devoured before the movie had even started...depravity that one...but hey if you like it then thats kool:D

and i agree the more blood and gore the better...but i think kids and teens, and some adults for that matter are becoming too tolerable for blood and gore, nothing shocks us anymore.

i think the old school horror trick of suspence, not showing the death scene just elluding to it with shadows or audio and stuff will be back in fashion soon...its the only way to go.

Scary :p

But seriously speaking, if you DO find them scary, then they work for you.

I prefer them to be as gruesome/distubing etc as possible to try and make it slightly difficult to watch because I'm desensitised to pretty much anything due to the fact my dad let me stay up late watching horror when I was a very young kid.

For example; I was born the same year Nightmare On Elm Street was released, and I watched it on TV when I was old enough to know what TV was.

Like I said, if you enjoy them or they scare you, then thats good enough. I personally liked Scream when I originally saw it, but the sequels werent so good...

The Mothman 01-02-2007 05:36 PM

i think poeple with I Know What you Did Last Summer as their fovorite film, probably havnt seen too many horror movies, frankly.

vanlutz 01-02-2007 06:45 PM

They're not "horror" horror movies. They're by the books, and unoriginal, but well acted and put together with medium/high budgets.

No one has bad taste in movies till you equate story and substance with an over abundance of tits and ass, then your taste can be considered crap.

I like both those series, they're not the best horror movies ever made, but they're entertaining.

obsessedwhorror 01-13-2007 03:54 PM

I personally LOVE Scream 1-3 & own the trilogy.
They seem to never get old. They are just very good movies.
[2 is not as good as 1&3 in my opinion]
I also enjoyed I know What You Did Last Summer.
Not as much as Scream, though.
There's just something about those teenagers vs. slasher movies that i love!

LadyFrost 01-13-2007 03:56 PM

Thank God someone with my sense in movies lol

And the heavens opened by the hand of GOd! I love those movies and any other teenage slasher movie...i'm not a big fan off the old original movies, i think it's because i was born too late to appriciate them, i like the new stuff for some reason.

I tried to watch the orginial of Black Christmas and i turned it off after the first kill, i just couldn't watch it.

xxxfrostyxxx

obsessedwhorror 01-13-2007 04:00 PM

haha.
some of the new stuff does suck, though.
but definitely not scream 1-3 & i know what you did last summer.
i still know what you did last summer wasn't as good.
have you seen i'll always know what you did last summer?
i heard that one was bad...

LadyFrost 01-13-2007 04:02 PM

OMG that movie sucked the big one!!! i saw it the other week and shook my head in disgust.

*****SPOLER ALERT*******

they turned the fisher man into a supernatural entity because he had been killed so many times and come back to life. he's now a being who only exists because people believe in him, an urben legend.

it's terribe, one of the worst teenage slasher movie's i've ever seen. the acting was the worst id seen. im sorry but normally i give a movie a fare go but not this one.

xxfrostyxx

obsessedwhorror 01-13-2007 04:04 PM

thanks for the warning!

LadyFrost 01-13-2007 04:06 PM

well if you want to watch it go ahead, i'm not stopping you im just letting you know it has nothing compared to the first two..nothing...it doesnt even feel like a IKWYDLS movie.

xxfrostyxx

obsessedwhorror 01-13-2007 04:09 PM

i might give it a try sometime.
