Like Rhonda Shear from USA's 'Up All Night'?

Yeah, Rhonda Shear was good too....of course, there's nothing quite like a real vampiress, with the gown and the spooky set and all. And as I recall, Elvira's cleavage was so much more surprising on television...it was great fun watching some cheesy movie like.....hmm...."Baron Blood" or something like that, with Elvira as the hostess. Unique experience.

Up All Night With Rhonda... Now that takes me back. Not sure if I mentioned it, but as a kid I had a problem with insomnia. So I'd spend the night at my grandparent's house from time to time and wake up. My favorite thing to do was to sneak into the living room and watch her. 'Course she showed Toxic Avenger more often than not, but it was Rhonda, you know? You gotta love her.

Sad part is...I don't really remember much of the movies I saw. I was really young in those days. Plus, no matter how low the tv was, my gran would always wake up and shoo me off to bed.

I miss my gran...:(

Miss Olivia 06-23-2006 09:59 AM

I'm sorry she's not here anymore....but at least you have good memories, right?:)

Here's a super goofy horror movie that I had remembered as being WAY better when I was a kid....and I didn't realize until recently that Freddy Krueger actually DIRECTED it....

It also has that hilarious kid from Fright Night, Stephen Geoffreys. What the hell happened to him???

tarcher80 06-23-2006 11:55 AM

As far as cheese goes: Rawhead Rex

It was actually written by Clive Barker, but didn't turn out too well. However I've seen this film about a dozen times...

He was so, well, different in Fright Night......I guess his film career took an unexpected turn....

You learn something new every day:D

I know how you feel, Haunted. I used to do the same thing at my grandparets (well, great-grandparents) Rhonda, the wonderful Gilbert Godfried, & let's not forget the Ray Bradbury theater, Freddy's Nightmares & the Friday the 13th series. Oh, and Amazing Tales?... those were good old days, the ones that shaped my childhood. I distinctly remember watching Night of the Lepus for the first time in that era. I'm guessing that you're roughly the same age as I am...strange but good times, being a tyke in the 80's...*sigh*

Miss Olivia 06-23-2006 02:38 PM

I remember Freddy's Nightmares....and the Friday the 13th series that was about a cursed antiques shop or something and had nothing to do with Jason....

I remember on one of those shows, there was a story about a doppleganger that scared the hell out of me, but I can't remember exactly which one it was....it had icky little demons in it though....

Oh well.

Some people MIGHT argue about this one, but come on.....my sister and I used to laugh our asses off when the doctor gets hellraiser-ed and starts singing instead of yelling....we called him Opera Man....

newb 08-03-2006 05:39 PM

Someone mentioned Flash Gordon.....much cheesier was Flesh Gordan.

LOL no, but I've been married. I know.
:D

crabapple 08-03-2006 06:26 PM

Now "Flesh Gordon" is one of those things, one of those freaky weird-ass movies that basically suck but they're too ambitious to be dismissed entirely (a pron comedy spoof with stop motion effects and spaceships??).

I rented a disc and listened to a very bizarre commentary by the director who described the experiences of one of the effects people working on the film, the guy who animated the "Penisaurus" creatures. Supposedly the guy kept having problems with his lights flickering while he was photographing his puppets and was totally convinced that the building he was working in was haunted. So: He brought the director in to show him how the lights were misbehaving during photography, and of course, they refused to flicker. "That's funny....it stopped doing it because YOU'RE here!" or something to that effect. Remember, this was the mid-70's. Very twisted weird movie, actually rather ugly and unpleasant for a fantasy picture, but it's sure worth seeing once.

newb 08-03-2006 06:44 PM

First time I saw Flesh Gordan was at the "drive-ins".....lots-o-beer....young woman....good times.

Miss Olivia 08-03-2006 08:21 PM

I saw this when I was young and it actually scared me.
Now it's pretty damn funny.

crabapple 08-03-2006 08:40 PM

hee hee hee....those were the days.

I'm watching "king kong vs godzilla" right now and when that's done I'm putting in "children shouldn't play with dead things," actually I'm working and these are background noises to keep me company

Zombie Doom. beyond cheese. Ninjas, Zombies, and a Evil Cult. too much fun.

http://www.badmovies.de/graph2/violentshit3.jpg

ill never stop reccomending this film. far too funny.

BloodRedFlower 08-04-2006 07:31 AM

Hm.. I thought Warlock was kinda cheesy (people will hate me for this but whatahell). Specially the second... those scenes when the kid is learning to use his powers.. puhleeese. But I liked the movie anyway :X

:o

waffle 08-04-2006 08:39 AM

First of all - for all those loving Kung Fu Hustle - give Kung Pow a go, it's awesomely silly.

For cheesy stuff with a strong appeal, I turn to Hackers, Mortal Kombat. Killer Clowns and Judge Dredd. There's just something about them.

crabapple 08-04-2006 09:14 AM

Now, me not being a reader of the comic book helps, but to me, Judge Dredd was perfectly acceptable as a nice looking futuristic action film with strong comedy/satirical tones. I liked it.

Miss Olivia 08-16-2006 01:56 PM

Did anybody else watch She Creature? I actually liked it.

I have the really old one....This picture doesn't look familiar.

Miss Olivia 08-16-2006 02:00 PM

Plot Summary: Angus and Lillie run a small-time carnival sideshow traveling around Ireland. When they meet a man who has captured a live mermaid, Angus is determined to acquire it by any means possible. Heedless of the former owner’s warnings, Angus loads his new spectacle aboard a ship and heads for America. Too late the ship’s crew learns of the deadly powers of their precious cargo.

An inventive and original tale, “She Creature” puts a new spin on the mermaid legend with excellent creature effects by Stan Winston.

The Columbia Pictures DVD presents the film in both Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1) and in Fullscreen (1.33:1). The film is very clear and the colors strong. The DVD has audio tracks in English: Dolby Digital 5.1 and French: Dolby Digital Stereo with optional English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean and Thai subtitles. The sound mix is clear and the dialogue can easily be heard above the music and effects. The extras include scene selection, creature EFX commentary by Stan Winston and Shane Mahan, making-of featurette, photo gallery, filmographies and trailers.

VampiricClown 08-16-2006 02:02 PM

This is the one I was thinking of:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0050957/

Miss Olivia 08-16-2006 02:04 PM

I've never seen that one....I'll have to get it.
