You wanna just end this now and give the tourney to Hitchcock? Why put off the inevitable.

There are a lot of younger people voting though, there's a slight chance different tastes will prevail in this one. Although I doubt it heh.

Hitchcock.

Alfred Hitchcock serves Shyamalan up with a nice cup of ass-whooping to emerege an early tournament favorite...

Next match coming right up....

And Austin, are you so sure HItchcock has it in the bag? He's the master of suspense, not the master of horror. Plus, with guys like Romero, Craven and Carpenter still in the tourney, I don't think anything is set in stone yet.

bwind22 05-07-2006 10:18 PM

Okay, because I realized I left a couple of very notable directors out of the tournament originally, I have expanded the field to include 32 directors, instead of only 16.

Round 1 - Match 7

Lucio Fulci - A Lizard in Womans Skin, Dont Torture a Duckling, Dracula in the Provinces, The Psychic, Zombie (aka Zombi 2) , City of the Living Dead (aka The Gates of Hell), Black Cat, The Beyond, The House by the Cemetary, The Ripper, Evil Eye, Touch of Death, The Sweet House of Horrors, Demonia (aka Liza), Voices from Beyond {Plus waaaaay too many other films for me to list off here. Check out imdb.com for a complete list.}

Guillermo del Toro - Cronos, Mimic, The Devil's Backbone, Blade 2, Hellboy, Pan's Labrynth {He is also working on Hellboy 2, and another horror film called A Killing on Carnival Row. Both due in 2007.}

First one to 7 wins.

I guess you're right, I've seen The Good, The Bad and The Ugly get beat by The Thing and Taxi Driver lose to X-Men I think it was... So anything can happen in an hdc tourney.

anyway...

Fulci

bwind22 05-08-2006 01:57 AM

Fulci jumps out in front 1-0!

Lucio Fulci

del Toro

I like Fulci's movies, but I really think that del Toro is the superior filmmaker.

Round 1 - Match 8

Cristophe Gans - Necronomicon: Book of the Dead, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Silent Hill

Wes Craven - Last House on the Left, the Hills Have Eyes, Swamp Thing, Nightmare on Elm Street, Chiller, The Hills Have Eyes 2, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Shocker, The People Under the Stairs, New Nightmare, Vampire in Brooklyn, Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, Cursed, Red Eye

Something tells me this match may end up kind of one-sided, but there's only one way to find out.

First one to 7 wins....

Round 1 - Match 9

Next up we have our first of only 2 Asian directors battling it out with an American legend. Who will come out on top?

Takashi Shimizu - Ju-On, Ju-On 2, Tomie: Rebirth, The Grudge, Marebito, Rinne {He is also working on American remake of The Grudge 2, as well as The Grudge 3 and two other horror films called Parasyte and The Death.}

John Carpenter - Halloween, The Fog, The Thing, Christine, Prince of Darkness, They Live!, Memoirs of an Invisible Man, In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned (remake), Vampires, Ghosts of Mars. {John has also made a number of notable non-horror films including Assault on Precinct 13 (original), Escape from New York, Starman, Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from LA.}

First one to 7 votes wins it.
