Paper Hangar doesn't do the band justice, but at the same time I'd really prefer some singing as opposed to Aaron just shout-talking.

I love the shout-talking, they sound different than ever other generic metalcore or pop-punk band Tooth and Nail has. I take it you don't like Godspeed You! Black Emporer?

I don't get to rate them, but goddamn, I love Thrice. :)

Ooooh.... 0/10, corporate music. Lil' processed, lil' formulaic. One man's opinion though.

I think we all should state our reasons for the ranking. That way people can't just rank bands they've never heard of just to put their own bands on next.

5/10

And I think that's a good idea. The only problem with that is with people like me that haven't heard half of these. I've been putting 5/10 for bands I haven't heard. So if I haven't heard them, I'll give them an even score and state it.

3/10... Kinda in that vein of Deftones stuff. Not enough melody, too much simple chord structures. And if you want to look up stuff, check websites like purevolume.com or iTunes.

6/10 I know I've heard this band and it seems like I liked them somewhat...But I can't find that cd. :(

And sadly, since I'm on Dial-Up, it takes me forever to listen to a clip or anything. By the time I did, there would be another band posted up here, lol. Thanks for the idea though. As soon as I get DSL, I will start doing that. :)

The_Return 05-29-2006 05:48 PM

4/10...never heared of them before, but I just listened to some stuff on their site, didnt much care for it. IMO vocals are the most important part of a song, so intrumental stuff doesnt really do it for me. On top of that, the 3 songs I listened to all sounded exactly the same...all three were really repetative, too.

The Cult

noctuary 05-30-2006 05:43 AM

The Cult: 5/10

I really like their first album as the Cult, but I think they went to far into the land of arena rock after that. The earlier incarnations of the band are better, in my opinion.

Cocteau Twins

Cocteau Twins

Arena rock served them well.... they never pulled off the goth thing for me. Electric is a pretty cool underated rock album of the era, and another Rick Rubin produced gem.

I give the Cocteau Twins a 4 never was really down with them but heard they were pretty dop live from a few people I know.

Hows about those Dictators?!!!!!!!!!

8/10... sounds a lil' bit like Tool but it's technical rock and there's some really good guitar work.

hehe... TENACIOUS D!

Tenacious D: 1/10

I don't like novelty/comedy acts, and I loathe Jack Black.
