Yeah...there's been a lot of back and forth between the "whiny non smoker", and smokers that say they don't give a fuck about effecting other peoples health, while wondering why they're considered to be "selfish"...am I the only one that finds this a just a little funny?

I used to be a smoker..Actually for a few years. Stopped in 2001 after going into hospital. All the drugs they had given me in there must have flushed all the tobacco outta my system.

I dont like smokers myself anymore. I try not to have friends that smoke either.
My mum smokes alot. So I have to deal with that every single day so yeah...I fucking hate smokers...

I'm not selfish about it. I consider myself to be a very polite smoker. I won't smoke in peoples cars who don't smoke, even if they offer. When I put my cigarette out, I always pick the butt up and find the nearest trash receptacle to put it into. Even if I'm sitting at a bar, and someone says the smoke is bothering them, I'll put it out.

Then, though, I've seen so many non-smokers who will walk back into the deepest recesses of the smoking area they can find, waving their hands in front of their face and bitching about it. You know, a lot of us have our sanctuaries and we keep to them. Why must some of you go looking for the thickest cloud of smoke you can find, with five of us huddled into an area because we're trying to be polite to YOU, and bitch about the fact that you have the right to be there too? It's irritating, especially if we're going out of our way to respect the fact that you don't smoke.

Yeah, I wouldn't pull that shit...I'd consider that the equivalent of a smoker walking up to me and blowing it in my face.
I think some kind of mutual (regardless of personal views) respect and space has to be given by either party.
I don't expect bars to be smoke free...this is why I don't usually frequent them myself...if I want drinks, I'll go with takeaways.
I acknowledge and appreciate that there are SOME smokers out there that try to understand the perspective on the nonsmoker, and act accordingly, but they are realistically in a minority, which is unfortunate...but it's still nice to not get "fuck you, I don't care" every now and then.

I used to smoke Kools, then at the beginning of the month I switched to Camel Turkish Silver, well I decided to quit yesterday. So, I don't smoke anymore. Lets see how long that lasts this time. Hopefully forever. It is a stinky, expesive habbit.

do you consider weed as bad as cigarettes? you smoke both, I know cigs have a lot more harmful stuff in them but, either way it is smoke in your lungs and one of them messes with your brain cells(if not both of them)

I'm smoked weed once in the past three months, I want to get high. I have been soooo sober for the longest time. I want to do something to make the worries go away.

Sadly enough, I'll admit that you're right. From what I've observed, there seem to be A LOT more smokers who have the whole "It's my right, fuck you for trying to take it away" tone. Then again, maybe it's just because the polite ones are quite and not outspoken about it.

That's true but there are also many non-smokers that have the same feelings toward smokers. So many non-smokers pigeonhole smokers and think they know why they smoke or how they act when they smoke. When I smoked for the most part I sat in the non-smoking sections at resturaunts, never smoked in the car with anybody, and generally tried to be consciencious (sp) of their feelings. Just because I loved to smoke doesn't mean I needed to kill other people along with myself. I think both sides need to ease up a bit and just act like damn human beings toward each other. I used to get a jerk telling me off once in a while for smoking and then I blew smoke in their face so I'm not infallible but I tried... I just don't take kindly to a-holes.

I think that a weed addiction is pretty bad for you...although you still (unless your a complete maniac) generally use far smaller quantities...so in temrs of the lung factor I'd still say habitual smoking does you far more damage than toking....although with weed, I think it does have negative effects on your brain with regular use, it DOES kill initiative, something you don't see until you drop it for a while, it can lead to depressive states in some people when they're not high...There's no denying they're both "bad for you", but if I had to say one was worse, I'd assume regular smoking, if only for the quantity and frequency.

Nothing wrong with that...just be responsible with it I guess...bearing in mind that it might work as a temporary bandaid to any real problems, it's not a solution to them. Moderate...blah blah blah...

That's totally true. You typically don't smoke as much weed as you do cigarettes. You may smoke twenty cigarettes a day, but unless it's a friggin' Greatful Dead party you're not going to smoke twenty joints in one day (that's pretty fucking expensive too). If you do smoke twenty joints in one day, you won't do it all week, unless you're very rich, bribing the cops, however, you'd be too brain dead to manage all of that. So, pretty much, we're not comparing apples to apples here.

Pot is most likely bad for your lungs, but you're not going to get as much of the carcinogenic effect as you would being a cigarette smoker.

smoking cigarettes is just breathing in smoke in deep relaxing breathes...when your stressed try just taking deep breathes...this time with out the cig...hmmm doesnt it seem alot smarter then you wont have to blaim your dirty habits on stress or being angry...just a thought...
