Brady's stats don't matter, he's not a big stat player. He's know for his poise, leadership and managment skills so the fact he's having his best season doesn't mean anything. The team isn't what they were, that's what means something.

True you don't have to get to the Super Bowl to win an MVP but you do have to have more than a 2 game winning streak and have a great season that elevates your team not just your career QB rating. Last year Manning broke a record that was considered unbreakable and carried his team to the playoffs. Brady isn't elevating his team and if they make the playoffs at all it's going to be because of the defense not him.

Another thing to prove the stat argument....

Aaron Brooks has been one of the best QBs in the league stat wise over the past 5 years, in '03 he had the best touchdown to interception ratio in the league was in the top 5 in rating and broke two team records but all that great individual play didn't elevate his team there for he got no consideration. Brady didn't get a vote last year when the Pats won the division so I seriously doubt he'll get one this year considering the fact that if they make the playoffs it's not going to be by much.

That would've been my point. Brady's leading the league in passing yards but their team is barely treading water, leading a division that's the worst in the NFL. If you're gonna carry a one-dimensional team to the playoffs like Peyton Manning did, that's one thing. But the patriots have problems in a bunch of areas, and Brady hasn't exactly been carrying his team with staggering numbers.

AUSTIN316426808 11-24-2005 05:10 PM

Exactly, he's not doing anything special, just because he's having the best season of his career doesn't mean anything. He's 4th in QB rating but Palmer and Manning are the top two and they're leading the best teams in the league.

AUSTIN316426808 11-27-2005 07:09 AM

The Owens arbitration is bullshit.

4 road games and that's a pretty tough schedule. They'll probably beat the Pack once maybe twice and maybe MInn, but like I said, I think that game will be for the division.

Panthers and Buccs back to back, ready to admit it now or ya still got a flicker of hope left?

I don't think it'd be a good idea for Jay Feely to leave his house for a couple weeks.

hahaha that was HILARIOUS. I was rootin' for the Seahawks anyway.

Good luck with the Saints tonight, too.

Lord knows we need it. They're better than the Jets but we've got a knack for giving games away.

NECRO666 11-27-2005 05:54 PM

4 INT didn't help brady on this game. plus the defense when ice cold on the first half. (6-5) if theygo on a winning streak from now on i don't think that is good enouph to be in plyoffs? 42 players injured there best offeness & deffense are out, offeness/deffenss cornators are gone. it's not over yet they might get a shot at it if they don't you could say the colts has it all the way to win the SB. if the pats don't make it (31D) I will have to pick for Sb contenders Colts and bears. bears will kick the colts ass if they both make the superbowl better D. GO PATRIOTS

AUSTIN316426808 11-27-2005 06:03 PM

I don't suppose you base all that crap you just said on anything but your own opinion because besides "offensive and defensive coordinators are gone" it's either completely wrong or just doesn't make sense.

Well you're winnin' now.

Saints defense givin' up points on 17 straight possessions.... oof.:D

Go ahead, rip away, not much defending I can do with a 2-8 team 'specially considering the fact that they've got more than enough talent to be 8-2(besides the whole best player out and no city thing).

AUSTIN316426808 11-27-2005 07:39 PM

@IA75- See what I mean? almost gave that one away but this one actually went the other way around, if Bollinger doesn't drop that snap Nugent nails the field goal.

MoonLit Meadow 11-27-2005 08:42 PM

As much as I love the Patriots....what an embarrassment today;)
*cries*

bwind22 11-27-2005 11:08 PM

The Vikes aren't letting up. All it will take is 1 Bears loss on a week the Vikes win and all of a sudden we're only down by a game. If that's the case, then week 17 Vikes vs. Bears will be for the division, just like I've been saying. I'm not worried yet.

The Viks are 6-5 the Bears are 8-3, if they lost and dropped to 8-4 and the Viks went to 7-5 they'd still have one less win and one more loss so that's still a two game lead.

I think we can agree that the Viks hopes all lay on how they play when a game rolls around that they don't get 4 or 5 turnovers.

ESPN.com pretty much said it best. Being a Jets quarterback is hazardous to your health.

LoL, guess I missed that one. That's what happens when your entire line is out but I'd rather be there than Houston, sometimes I just feel sorry for David Carr.

Dude, so do I. That guy deserves better, he's managed to stay a class act throughout this entire terrible year.

AUSTIN316426808 11-28-2005 02:02 PM

I don't even think they can afford to get Reggie Bush, they need a line, not one or two but an entire line.

ItsAlive75 11-28-2005 04:07 PM

But you know they'll go for Bush because it'll fill the seats... for a while.

AUSTIN316426808 11-28-2005 05:22 PM

Well, it's almost impossible to pass up on that kind of talent and they could always trade Davis for an extra pick. They went 8-8 last year without a line so maybe Capers can pull it off with a couple late picks and free agents.

Fire Mariucci then announce Garcia the starter and keep McMillan?(or whatever his name is)

WTF is wrong with that franchise!

In fact, let's go far enough to make all teams consist of players born within that town or city.

Easy to say when you live in close proximity of a Pro team.. Of course I am Husker fan living in Omaha. But we dont have a pro team of any sort within 200 miles (KC) and there is no fucking way I am going to cheer on the Royals or the Chiefs. I had to venture a little further for my teams (Steelers, St L Cards and the Celtics). Nice to see there are other Horror fans out there that appreciate sports though..!

If the Vikings were 7-5 and the Bears were 8-4, that's 1 game back, not two. I don't know who taught you to figure out standings, but you should ask for a refund.

8-4
7-5

That's a 1 game difference dude. Plus, like I said we play the Bears the last week, so that right there would be our chance to even it up. Then it'd go to a tiebreaker for the division (Which I don't know who would win. If the Vikes won game 17 to force the tie, they'd each have a head to head win against each other so I think it'd go to divisional record, which still remains to be determined.)

There's still work to be done, but you guys just wait... The Vikes will be around come playoff time. (Or at the very least, game 17 will be for the division. We may win, we may not, but we'll make it interesting.)

So long as you're not into simply supporting the "best" team in the land (i.e. the one that always wins and lives about 500 miles away)... that's all fine!

You're right, my bad that's baseball and basketball that count losses. It's cool dude, I think you're confidence is admirable, I see that from almost every post of yours that you've got your heart set on that last game being a tie break so I'll just let it go.

Amen to this thread. Especially since I am an Eagles fan. It is a shame since he is an excellent athelete. But I hate the fact that it is because we don't have TO that we are doing shitty. When he was around we were still doing shitty this season.

That's not all together true, you remember season before last when the Eagles weren't all that dominate and were getting by with McNabb scrambling and Westbrook? Well, they were doing the same thing this year and if it weren't for all the BS I think the Eagles would've came out ok this year.

NECRO666 12-01-2005 09:50 AM

Patriots all the way if not next year :D

Agreed. Sometimes the whole mental issue goes a long way. When athletes say that they don't worry about stuff like that, that they're just looking forward to the next game, they're probably lying.

It's probably more loyalty than confidence. lol I refuse to say anything bad about my team, even when things start looking grim, so now that we have a flicker of hope, I've got to grasp it... It's all I've got, man!

Hahaha. I'll be rooting for the Pack tomorrow. The Bears haven't won at Lambeau since the mid 90s. (These types of situations are the only I ever say anything about rooting for the Pack.)

The Vikes on the other hand, got the Lions... Who are better than their record reflects, but still very beatable. Hopefully our Defense can stay tough....

It's actually at Soldier Field, but the Pack are 11-1 and one there... since 94' I think. So.... I'm still wary.

AUSTIN316426808 12-03-2005 06:57 AM

I just think the Bears' D is too good. Of course I'm not picking against them but I'm wary myself.

11 straight in Illinois, 20 out of last 25

All that's great but there's just no reason to have confidence 'specially against the best D in the NFL. I've got hope just not that much confidence.
