In the book it explains that the lass with no eyes locked up in the shed with the dogs is infact their daughter who was born deformed and the main character Peggy is infact pregnant by the father .Although I kinda guessed this it doesnt really explain it,just merely hints at it with visuals.
Mum and Dad scared me too. I can distance myself from demons/zombies etc in my brain but when the perpetrators of evil are human its very unsettling.

I have The Woman on dvd but haven't got around to watching it to-be interesting to see what I make of it. Mum and Dad is awesome-have you seen The Living And The Dead (2006)? I have a feeling you would love it such a messed up film:)

I've probably seen Alien and Aliens enough so I can say that I'm not scared. At least when I'm watching it normally. But if you really think about it. The idea of a facehugger with all those legs crawling along the ground trying to wrap its tail around your throat and implant an egg. The egg then growing inside you and the baby Alien bursting through your stomach. Or the fully grown Alien, having acid for blood, that secondary mouth, long tail, and being really huge. Really think about seeing something like that for real at night moving through your house. That is scary.
