No way dude, those movies were funny. Gross yes, scary, no.

Jacob's Ladder was good, and it did have a few creepy moments, but it definitely didn't scare me.

I think this might be my problem actually. Maybe I'm just too jaded by now to really be frightened by movies anymore.

I'm going to make a few suggestions on my own thread. Saw a Spanish horror movie last night called Shiver (2008), and I thought it was quite good at ratcheting up the tension. It sort of blew it in the last 30mins but worth checking out. Watched it under perfect conditions though. Alone in the dark with a lightning storm raging outside.

try taking a shit load of mushrooms in bad company and watch a scary film, might help get you scared.

Also watched Home Movie (2008), and thought it was reasonably creepy, though not really nightmarishly so, it was still one of the better found footage type movies I've seen in a while.

Event Horizon was quite good back in the day, but the CGI is very dated now. Still one of my favorite space horrors though. REC offered a few good jump scares when it was released. Somebody else suggested Grave Encouters, but I really thought that movie was hilariously bad and was checking my watch throughout.

If you guys know of something off the beaten track that would be great.

try taking a shit load of mushrooms in bad company, and then watch some satanic horror movie..might help scare you a bit

A movie that scares me deeply, is Irréversible. The thought that something like that could happen to a loved one..

Agree with you on that - the thought both angered and frightened me.

Being disturbed by a film happens more to me a lot more than being actually scared. But yeah as harsh as some of that movie was it still didn't get to me as much as Mordum. It was slick stylistically and more detached from reality.
