I mean... let's face it. His version of Bond is totally generic.

How can it be generic when he was the first one?

Generic?

Suave... confident... strong...

I'm generic too.

I did, and I think you are right, he was "Jimmy Bond"

I realise i was insinutating that allen directed it, although i was vaguely aware that he only acted in it. but 7 directors? Explains why it was such a godawful mess.

Although i liked several of the pink panther movies, i never had any use for the 60's "wacky romp and caper" movies.

i liked all the bonds - including Lazenby and Dalton .. for each his own thing.
I didnt appreciate the movies they were in all the time ...

I used to think the Roger Moores were the best because they were the 1st i saw. (I saw The Man With The Golden Gun at the show - it was my 1st)

looking back .. the Roger Moore films were the weakest in content ... played mainly for laughs ... but Roger Moore did OK with what he was given.

i thought Dalton was a step in the right direction when he came along .. they just didnt go far enough.

Craig is setting the bar to where it's never been before.
Brutal, smart, physical, no nonsense.

It sfunny, because big complaint i have heard baout dalton was that they were too serious. I guess after almost 20 years of moore and the slapstick that was thrown in, they were more depressing, but I always liked him.

I never cared for lazenby, and thought 80% of On Her Majesty's Secret Service was retarded, but the end redeems it and gives the whole series an edge that doesnt exist before it.

I am interested in Craig's bond now because as I have gotten older, I have grown out of a lot of what i liked about the old ones and gravitate towards harsher things.

It's interesting how many people say they like Craig because he's a more violent, visceral Bond, "closer to the real James Bond," when Fleming's first choice to play the role was David Niven. It's clear the sophistication & wit are what he was interested in portraying. The studio went with Connery because they wanted a more masculin, physical approach.

I'm not saying Craig isn't great. I'm just saying it's interesting....

I was thinking this when you mentioned David Niven earlier.

Its interesting what an author envisions vs what people who read his work envision.

Love Bond films. QOS looks killer. Can't wait to see it. I can't really think of a 007 actor that has "sucked". They all have brought something good to the table. My favorites are Sean Connery and Roger Moore. Keep in mind that I haven't seen all of the films.
