i got a kick out of the 1st live action scooby doo movie where they heavily hinted at shaggy and scooby as being a couple of dope smoking potheads.

and they were always hungry as a result of 'the munchies'

i was at Toronto's answer to Disneyland a few weeks ago and there were some scoobydoo shirts there ...


2 kinds - one for the kids that were just scooby doo and wonderland, and ones for older kids which were again - all drug references..

I think the drug references are something that have come along from people watching the shows. I dont give H-B the credit to have any kind of subtext in their shows.

Although shows like Jabberjaw may be the result of heavy drug use.

Scooby Doo was always giggling stupidly and craving Scooby Snacks.

And Shaggy did seem wasted most of the time. Either that or brain damaged.

So it makes sense...

I had actually never heard of this show until you mentioned it and I watched a quick youtube video. definetly a strange show.

It is the pinnacle of just how fucking lazy Hannah Barbera was to me. The naimation was garbage, the basic outline of the show was "scooby doo, with a band and a shark", so they set it underwater.

Wait, we can make a "dog like" voice, but what the hell does a shark sound like? No idea? Fine, he'll talk like Culry from the the 3 stooges.


All o ftheir characters were either actors/characters from the 30s 40s and 50s, or the same generic template "teens".

Jesus, this bugs as much as hippies and dead trees....

Enemies so far:

2. Sharks with stupid voices.

I hope i can find more videos like that one... I used to work with people similar to that. They weren't that hardcore, they just liked to argue, smoke pot and not shower, but beyond bumper stickers on their gas-guzzling $400 beaters, they didnt really want to do anything.
