It's a new Christmas staple.

LOL Elf is great, I don't care what anybody says.

Ain't nothing nothing wrong with Elf... There are parts of that film that just make me laugh out loud.

I used to hate Will Ferrell, but he's starting to grow on me.

And now I'm going to have to add some Christmas horror movies to my Netflix queue...

Yeah, I was wondering what people thought who had seen the original... I figured that it would be hated, but I wanted to hear from others who had seen it (the only person I know who has seen it is my Boy and he enjoyed it as well)... I'll definitely have to check the original film out... I'm a Slasher Sucker, so I didn't have a problem with the remake... Now I HAVE to add the original to my list.

Oooo... You brought up the Reginald Owen Christmas Carol... ANOTHER classic... Definitely comes after Scrooge for me (and I'm tickled that you even KNOW the Alastair Sim version... It's seriously one of my favorite movies of all time... especially this time of year).

...

BTW Congrats on your first married Christmas. :)

The original is a creepy film, in my opinion. And because of what you DIDN'T know. Very effective. I'm not big on a whole lot of backstory, I prefer mystery and subtlety, unless it is done very well, and I thought it was poorly done in the remake. But in general, I am not a huge fan of remakes, some I like or love......The Fly, The Thing, Dawn of the Dead, even The Hills Have Eyes. But mostly, like this one, I have no use for them. But I am slasher fan as well. I just seem to be stuck in the '70s and '80s.....;)

Its one of my favorites as well! :D And its funny, but it is also one of my dad's favorites. We watched it every year. And those are the two versions he loves and owns. So apparently I was influenced there. ;)

Thank you! Should be fun.....really, I used to dread Christmas.....not so much this year, actually looking forward to it.

Marley's Ghost 12-11-2007 04:33 PM

I Like To Spend This Time Of Year
Visiting My Old Friend Ebenezer
I Put The Fear Of God Into Him
That Cheap Tight-ass Old Geezer

And Then I Have A Christmas Toast
With Some Lovely Cherry Wine
Or Eggnog With A Bit Of Rum
It Makes Me Feel So Fine

Then Me And The Ghost Of Christmas Present
Will Get Tipsy And Stir The Shit
Its Off We Go On A Mischief Run
To The House Of Poor Bob Cratchit

We'll Steal The Prize Goose
And The Pudding In The Copper
And Break Tiny Tim's Crutch
Even Though Its Not Proper

Then We'll Meet With The Ghost
Of Christmas Yet To Come
He's A Scary Motherfucker
So We'll Give Him All The Rum

Every Year Its The Same
It Doesn't Deviate In The Least
I Made These Chains That Bind Me
Link By Link I Built This Beast

Don't Feel Bad For Me Children
I Seek No Pity For My Pain
The Question You Should Ponder Is
How Long Is Your Chain

I love the Alastair Sim 1951 "A Christmas Carol," that is a seriously good movie.

"A chance and hope of my procuring, Ebenezer." I always wondered about that. Exactly what did Marley have to do to secure this opportunity for Scrooge to redeem himself? Surely that sort of special counseling services don't happen cheaply, or often. Did Marley have to add extra weights to his chain, or did he have to pay some other sort of penance? Did he have to walk on sharp rocks without shoes?

I'm taking a vacation from both school and work. I'm not going anywhere, I'm just taking a week off. Think of me as Tom Hanks' character in The 'Burbs. I'm going to relax for a week. I'll probably post on here from time to time, and I might find some other stuff to do. But, my main goal this Christmas, is to relax.

We used to go to North Carolina and see my grand-parents but we haven't went the last few years. We just sit around and open presents and eat dinner.

I need to see Elf...I worked on the effects for it, but I have avoided seeing it because I associate it with working late nights and not sleeping for weeks. People tell me it's good, though...

I don't have too many traditions for Christmas but I do like to go around with the egg nog and the rum and pour little drinks for everyone! "What is that??" "Egg nog--and you're going to have some!" :)
