Its my first post in a while, I had to re-register for it...and no one was correcting any of you in your misuse of the thought 'remake'. And yes, speculate about rumors....but a rumor is something unconfirmed. It has been confirmed that John Carpenter gave his blessing, and that it is NOT going to be a remake.....so where is the rumor in that?

Um...in the link you sent, Rob himself says the first half of the film will be a prequel and the second half is a re-imagining of the original.

That's a remake.

On a rock n talk show not long back he (Rob Z) said he wanted to show more of the early life of Michael-the aging and development of pure evil- I think is how he put it...then it would closely resemble the original story line.
