for the record:
1) I have never actually made a 'goodbye' thread - mine are more arithmetically arranged absences.

2) I think some people post goodbye threads for the simple and straightforward reason that they are going to be away - even if only for a little bit - and are courteously notifying those of us who might miss them

and, 3) I took Haunted's advice and repeated "I am an Attention Whore" in the mirror - it didn't really help.

P.S. I've had enough, I'm leaving because my dog died once and there was a time I wasn't sure about things and I need a little time, a little time to think things over. I better read between the lines, in case I need it when I'm older. Now this mountain I must climb, feels like a world upon my shoulders. But through the clouds I see love shine, it keeps me warm as life grows colder. Innnnn myyyy liiiiiffee.... there's been heartache and paiiin....

 [/B]
bye bye :p

It was just a random thought about how I am here and not here.

My not being present in this forum has no bearing on the rotation of the earth. The sun will rise and set tomorrow and the Gods will still play.

I dont see anything wrong with telling people that you are taking a leave of absence. Its not really my style but to each his own. Some people want the people they care about to know that they arent going to be around for a while. Some, myself included, dont really give a shit enough to tell people I am taking a break.

When I first came here I loved this forum and all the people in it. Now its a shell of its former self and with all the constant bickering, I wont mention names, it can become mentally draining.

Its like walking into a room and you find all your friends fighting, do you stay and listen to the BS or do you leave until it settles down??

why does anyone need to say goodbye anyway? If you were here for a long while and got tonz of friends, all you can do is go to your User box and PM all of them or email them that you were leaving...thats it...

Most people like me dont have many friends in here. Contacts and acquaintances maybe, but friends nope. So if I disappear for a while I am not missed or noticed...

Same goes for people who are too old and pass away somewhere out there, and the news never reaches the forums. Others might meet an accident and get bed-ridden in the hospital, and cant make it back here...

Its a fact...many things happen to people outside the puter...and it would look ridiculous if someone posts "I have been hit by a truck and went through 4 operations in the past week, so I ve come to say farewell and goodbye." wtf...you are in the ICU somewhere and you hook onto the puter to post a goodbye thread at HDC?

for the record - with my dying breath i would post my farewell to HDC

(and, to clarify the record, I NEVER posted a goodbye thread - just a mathematical observation)

I'm with you on this one.

And as far as the godbye threads, when someone goes away, and someone notices, they're all like "Where did (Name) go? What happened to (Name)?"

So that's my theory. At least some people say where they're going. And I did leave, I'm not on the computer much at all anymore. Everytime I sign on, everyone on my buddy list all say "I haven't talked to you in forever" and stuff. I just don't find the computer as interesting as I did once.

agreed - i hate it when people suddenly disappear - like Moonlit Meadow, i loved her, she was great and funny and smart and i haven't seen a post from her in months. . . personally i would have liked a goodbye thread just to know what's up (of course, in fairness, there might have been one. . . i don't pay that close attention)

I still say it should be a rule. Make a goodbye thread, don't be allowed back on site :D

Ditto! Horror.com is like my home away from home (in which I post in here when I'm at home, so that's kind of comical). I love this place because of the great people I've met! So yes, I'd make my last breath be on Horror.com!
