Dude, the original THE HAUNTING is scary as hell, in my opinion--in a quiet, classic movie kind of way. It just messes with your head--I almost went insane watching it.

Also, you MUST MUST MUST get Roman Polanski's REPULSION, although it might be a little hard to track down--in my opinion it's better than the more popular ROSEMARY'S BABY.

if you like arty horror I can recommend:
"Santa Sangre"
"Lost Highway"

I'll get Repulsion, it looks pretty interesting.

And I have Lost Highway on my list but I didnt think it was a horror film. I liked Mulholland Dr alot so i'm getting most of Lynch's work

if you like repulsion, get The Tennant as well ...

psycho - most watchable horror film of all time!
