Hmmm...Alot of the 'industrial' stuff that I listen to is a bit heavy on the guitars (but, I'm a guitar freak, so that's what I tend to lean toward)...However...Industrial is DEFINITELY heavier on the effects...Plenty of distortion, slides, some techno stuff added in sometimes, usually a pretty good mix of 'techniques'...They ARE pretty similar overall...

A lot of modern industrail music is definatley guitar driven and is better for it because it doesn't end up sounding so dated. I used to really enjoy the Godflesh album Streetcleaner.

I think Alice In Chains, T00L, and (OLD) S.O.A.D, Ultra Spank were unique and creative. probably the last good metal band.

 ^ not metal and never was ^ Music Nazi? You just sound ignorant about music at times. You shouldn't discredit a genre of music you know nothing about.....

I haven't listened to many modern bands (apart from local gigs and a few grindcore bands) and mainly listen to punk these days but you can't beat bands like Obituary (amazing structures and tones) & Death (started modern death metal) that shit was just as innovative and important as Sabbath...... and as was mentioned before you can't go past Pantera. Reinventing The Steel has some amazing work riff wise on it - the intro to Revolution is My Name comes to mind - top that Mr Iommi!

NO KIDDING!!!

OH..But what about Nine Inch Nails 'Perfect Drug' for some wicked guitars?

And have you heard any Opeth?...The way they mix the accoustic with the electric in the Blackwater Park album (ESPECIALLY in 'Harvest') makes it almost haunting.....I LOVE the 'feel' in that one

Dammit, I love guitars...lol

Yeh they are pretty cool. I used to be a massive NIN fan and have been meaning to check out their new album for old time's sake.

Nah I haven't heard any Opeth. I was looking at some of their LPs the other day and they looked interesting. I might have to give them a day in court.

Opeth is one of my favorite metal bands. Check out their album "Damnation", it is all acoustic/ undistorted and some nice vocals. I used to be into black metal, listened to Emperor, Graveworm (still good), Mayhem and Burzum. Darkthrone, all that shit. Now i really don't like it very well.

Mostly i listen to psychobilly or at least things i can dance to. Bella Morte, and Rozz William's Christian Death are two great deathrock outfits. I like pretty much everything, even rap and country... two very underrated genre's in my opinion.

Death metal and horror seem to fit together. Listen to some Grindcore sometime, it's even more of a match for the gore obsessed. Pig Destroyer is okay, Anal Cunt is terrible and great.

When have you sold out a club? or sold a enough CD's too pay your rent? or have people wearing you're bands T-shirt

My music opinion is stabborn, not ignorant. Ignorant would mean I would have never have listened too metal before and couldn't list any reasons for my dislike of metal bands but yet still talk shit about them.

Hate_Breeder 07-02-2005 02:02 AM

WTF?!?!? Isnt Pantera considered industrial?
