Truth be told, these types of posts are difficult. It's an opinion post, which is respectable. But you get people not entertained by them arguing with people who are entertained. Hence the problem with opinion posts; everyone has an opinion. |
Reasons why you are wrong
Reasns You Are Wrong
#1) I am not arguing against this band "because a friend told me to". I am simply citing his story as one example of why I would not support, and in fact, would discourage people from listening to that music. Any band where the members use and abuse venue and promoter employees to the point where said employees are ready to quit is not a band worthy of fame. #2) quote:"without actually hearing any of it...Have labeled it horrible" As you said, lets stick with the facts. I have listened to ICP and can tell you, that from the songs I have heard (such as "Bugz On My Nutz, "My Kind Of Bitch", "I Stuck Her With My Wang", real classy stuff BTW) and can say with all assuredness, it is "horrible music" #3) quote:"You assume only kids listen to it, desite ICP's 11 year history" Yes, I do assume only kids listen to it because I have yet to see anyone over the age of 18 sporting any kind of ICP wear, or saying anything like, "Yo, that new ICP shit is dope, yo!" The fact that the band has an eleven year history says nothing about the age of the fans, only the age of the band members. That's like saying,"oh, well, Sesame Street's been on the air for twenty years, so obviously all of the people that watched it when they were young have continued watching it well into their late twenties."It's ludicrous to propose that the same people who listened to IC when they started still listen to them today. Lets face it, some bands aim their music at a target demographic. Some pick 20-30, some pick 45 -60. ICP however, has chosen to target an extremely young demographic. Peoples tastes in music CHANGE as they get older, whether or not you would like to believe it. The Grateful Dead toured for 30 years, and their main demographic remained the 20yrs to 30 yrs the entire time. SO, unless their fans don't age...people move on from different musical phases at different ages. #4) How is the fact that I called a music style gross "above all else" in your list of "arguments"? #5) quote:"They've reached tops of charts and sold gold/plat albums" I've searched through tons and tons of Pollstar reoprts (which is the magazine that documents the charts and who goes platinum and gold)and could not find one report of ICP reaching the top of any chart (indy or otherwise) and absolutely no reports of any of their albums hitting the Gold or Platinum status. Please find me where it says these guys hit the top of the charts and went Platinum, cuz I'd be very interested to know whose taking down those numbers.. #6) quote:"It's this type of success (yes, success) that should make you realize, maybe you're missing something." If success is how you measure the artistic integrity and musical worth of a band, then I'm not sure why I'm even debating music with you at all. If you measure a band's musical worth by the volume of success it recieves, then we can all say that the members of 'Nsync are just as genius as the members of ICP, now can't we? Conclusion: Know your shit before you try and talk music w/ me. Now, go back to your Magic cards and Dungeons and Dragons, son. BTW:I would have to say that anyone who can't step up an take a shot at explaining the "genius" of ICP to me is not really doing a good job of representing for their favorite band, are they? |
well this is my opinion on the insane clown idiots are whoever they are... I see them every now and then well I should say in the past in interviews and they were total idiots... couldnt answer a question without saying something dumb. and i think the time I saw them on the howard stern show is when they really looked like morons... sharon bashed the hell out of them wantabes....

downside-
I'm glad you feel validated for making yourself sound intelligent in an online forum. Big man. I can tell you know that I knew what you were going to write back, hell i used to pull the same shit. The "Well they're platinum without making radio/video play" I used to rock that line in chatrooms too. "Signed" to Psychopathic" Motherfucker, they are Psychopathic. If you knew dick about that label you'd know that Ustler and Bruce are two of the six "Psychopathic Dons." Fuck it's so obvious that youre new to this. I'd continue to school you on the subject of the inner city posse, psychopathic, etc . if I thought it would do any good. But I don't. And gee you sure did get awful heated for someone who supposedly respects others opinions. Plain out, you sir are a fucking douche bag. Trying to talk about underground rap like you knew what the fuck was up. It's kinda obvious that we dont take too kindly to your faggot rap so why dont you just shut the fuck up, and try not to get all butthurt about the fact that while your sentence structure and vocabulary is above that of a 14 yr old, your muscial taste however isn't. Im done talking to you. Consider yourself ignored. If you have any futher comments, by all means feel free to send a personal message:) |
Although it's clear, some of you have gotten your feathers ruffled, I still use the same argument that you would, say if you were defending Grateful Dead (ahem) or N' Sync. It's entertainment. You don't have to understand it to know that it entertains people. If you're not entertained by it, that's fine. Just don't expect you to convince others that they shouldn't be.
And although you may have chosen to attack me personally, NightBreed, I find your attacks much like your facts...unfounded. So continue to "school" me on the subject of Pyschopathic, if you want. Proving you know their history isn't so much impressive to me, as it is to you. If you like the sound of your own voice, by all means, keep talking. But yes I know the history of the label, and that includes who belongs where in it. The point of that post was not to spout of useless facts about the label, but rather to explain what a label is for. Unlike you, I'm not trying to prove myself. Remember, I'm the fan here. I've already proven myself. But you trying disprove the talent of a very sucessful band will get you no where. So keep talkin if you'd like. I probably got millions of others things that you wouldn't approve of, but I didn't care at the beginning of this and I don't care now. Hold yourself up high and consider yourself the victor of this post. But if you just read the beginning thread, you'll see...you "won" an argument that never took place. Congrats! Take kindly to what you whatever, bitch. I don't need it. If you've been sugar coating what you really want to say, grow some nuts and just say it. And as for you Bava, you still don't like a musical group because of how they treat the venue??? That's very kind of you, though I'm not sure what that has to do with the actual music. Don't get me wrong, my great uncle liked the Grateful Dead and they seem to have a good following. But since most of your argument are stemming around them, I'd say you were partial. This, mixed with your disgust for the music (a.k.a. 'gross') makes me think you're recommendations for music might not be as "hardcore" as I would like it to be. So although your threats may sound scary to you, you're really starting to come off as a 40 year old. Sorry, I just cannot be threatened by 40 year olds, especially those recommending N'Sync. All of you can ignore me if you want, and try to lead me to other "better" music. Still, I take pride in knowing that I'm defending my choice in music, which solely rests on my shoulders. While you may all not be convinced that ICP/Twiztid are worth listening to, I find your arguements as weightless as you may find my appreciation of the music. I suppose we could agree to disagree in this thread, and that's probably what will happen. What won't happen is a split second where I let any of you push me around. Talk your shit and pump yourself up if you must, but onyl do so under the understanding that you will get pushed back. |

But truth be told I like stuff that sounds like two cats fucking in a meatgrinder. One of my favorite recordings, by the noise band Hantarashi, sounds like two guys beating the shit out of each other with belt sanders. Most of you would hate it and that's fine with me. The opinion of someone else doesn't diminish my enjoyment. Some things to think about. -Musical taste is subjective. Not liking something doesn't mean it's bad, it just means that you don't like it. If you are going to say that someone's music is bad don't make personal attacks on the artist. It's music, not a personality cult. -Don't confuse music with a lifestyle. It's called cross-marketing to create meta-brand loyalty... if they can sell a lifestyle to you as well as a CD then you are giving them more money. Deadhead or Juggalo, same difference, your solidarity is just lining some dink's pocket, just like going to K-Mart. The music you listen to shouldn't define what types of clothes you wear, the way you talk, what soda pop you drink, or whatever. |
