You really should try to get hold of Salem's Lot. The book is so much better than both movies!

The Dark Tower series - i know its more than three

The Stand

The Shining

Love almost all his books (including Dreamcatcher which some seem to hate, but I likes). But to recommend only three books for some to pickup and give King a try:

(1) The Stand - the ultimate struggle of good vs. evil, after almost all of the world has perished from a super-disease.
(2) The Dark Tower series - a mixture of western/sci-fi/horror/
mystery/romance.
(3) Rose Madder - psycho cop beating his wife for years, couple times nearly to death, she finally grows some balls and leaves, the psycho cop husband tracks her down to kill her, some wierd twists near the end (as always).

That's an interesting pick, but a good one. I liked it a lot more than I expected to.

I agree. I almost forgot about that one. Liked the maze ending especially.

I'm a fan of all four short story anthologies, and I thought Salem's Lot was probably his best novel of the ones I've read.
